Massachusetts job fair canceled because of lack of jobs
Boston Herald ^ | 03/25/2011

TAUNTON - A Massachusetts employment organization has canceled its annual job fair because not enough companies have come forward to offer jobs.

Richard Shafer, chairman of the Taunton Employment Task Force, says 20 to 25 employers are needed for the fair scheduled for April 6, but just 10 tables had been reserved. One table was reserved by a nonprofit that offers human services to job seekers, and three by temporary employment agencies.

Shafer tells the Taunton Daily Gazette the lack of employers means the task force won’t have enough money to properly advertise the fair.

The task force has been organizing the job fair nearly every year since 1984.

Shafer says the cancellation reflects the current economy - even though things are getting better, companies are still cautious about hiring full-time workers.

Jobs? Massachusetts? LOL, ridiculous!

Try somewhere without the democrat party criminals in control.

Try North Dakota or Texas.

There are currently: 77,599 overall jobs in Massachusetts.
2,835 statewide jobs in Massachusetts.
66,003 jobs within 50 miles of Taunton, MA.

14,463 jobs within 25 miles of Taunton, MA.

But not enough companies that want to waste time with a job fair.

Any state where forced unionism (a favorite of the American Marxist party, aka demonRATS) prevails will face a constant impediment to job growth.

Job fairs are useless, archaic events that linger on only because the sponsors can make a quick buck on them. The only reason my organization ever participates is due to political considerations (must have a presence). Manning a booth at a job fair is one of the circles of hell. Wasn’t always that way, but now it is.

I'd like to see an overlay of that map with hashing across each state having a hash density relative the state deficit held. It would be interesting to see if the right to work states are hash free, while the union states are all but colored in completely.

Things Are Getting Better? Kiind of like saying a person who has already died is getting better.

I found the following: Per Capita State Budget Deficit Map.

I can't attest to its accuracy and it was created in June 2009. That said, Massachusetts, New York and California, all non-right-to-work states are in the most trouble.

What is also of interest is to compare the liberty-loving, right-to-work states with those that supported Obama in 2008. The nearly perfect intersection is not suprising:

Massachusetts State Government has declared war on private industry in the state and this is the consequence of that action. Massachusetts voters ultimately are responsible for this stupidity. It is they who go the the polls time and time again and elect the most anti-business politicians. I feel bad for those few sane people in Massachusetts who are desperately trying to hold the state together.

Like California, Massachusetts has an absolute joke for a governor. He is another affirmative action hack who couldn't run a lemonade state if his life depended upon it. But the voters of Massachusetts are so PC that they put him in office. They also overwhelmingly elect liberals to every state office. Massachusetts is paying big time for its stupidity. Will the voters eventually get it? I doubt it. The Voters of Massachusetts are such committed liberals and leftists that they will persist in their behavior no matter what. God help them (the innocent).

Texas fer sure. My daughter is HR manager at a manufacturing plant and she can’t fill all their open positions. Part of the problem is the starting pay isn’t that much higher than welfare, but still you gatta start somewhere.

In another life I was a headhunter for a major university and participated in job fairs all over central California. I never expected to receive leads and used it as advertising instead. And yes, working them is grueling.
