The NYT artcile linked below takes on the air of child-like wonder when the author seems to ponder how it is that the "young, educated secular activists who initially propelled the nonideological revolution are no longer the driving political force"

They need to study the Russian revolution then. Russia didn't get taken over by the swiftest, but by the most devious and ruthless.

Yep, most people felt pretty good when Kerensky assumed power after the Czar abdicated, but he was destined to only be a footnote in history.
