Police at the University of Central Florida are looking into claims that members of a fraternity bragged about a game involving drugging random women at a fraternity function in February.
University spokesman Chad Binette said Friday that UCF's Office of Student Conduct and the UCF Police Department "will be conducting reviews of the incident."
"Our No. 1 priority is to provide a safe environment for the entire university community," including our Greek organizations," Binette said.
The fraternity denied the allegations and said it welcomes the reviews.
The controversy stems from a Feb. 10 event, in which documents released by UCF state the Delta Upsilon fraternity and Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority took a bus to a downtown Orlando nightclub.
In written statements, three unnamed sorority members complained that during the bus ride, members of the fraternity talked about putting "roofies" in random drinks and passing them out to unsuspecting women.
They also said that, though there wasn't supposed to be alcohol on the bus, Delta Upsilon members were drinking from a spiked two-liter soda bottle.

Interesting way to put it. Is it the woman’s responsibility to avoid getting drugged or the man’s responsibility to not drug a woman?

Both...it depends on whether you are more concerned with preventing the crime, or instilling punishment after the crime.
To me they both have a place, although, if it was my sister, I’d be much happier to see the crime prevented, as opposed to having the crime happen and then watching the guy (rightfully) get put away for decades.
The fact is, there is no 100% way of preventing such crimes, aside from completely separating the sexes.
I suppose that a woman COULD refuse any drink or food if she needs to leave a table for any reason. After all, if her current paramour WANTED to, he could have slipped in a drug.
But, such women tend to be very unpopular with young men because they become paranoid to the point of being unable to trust. Most young men want the object of their affections to be able to trust them.
Therefore, greater onus is on the man for NOT drugging the food than for the woman to assume (as she must, to ensure her safety 100%) that any food or drink that she hasn’t watched during the duration of their time together is potentially drugged.
To really have no risk, a woman would have to only consume beverages from a previously sealed container, keep the beverage in her possession at all times, and not allow anyone near her beverage. She could bring a water bottle in her purse, for example.

Not exactly. Blaming a woman for being raped after she was drugged makes as much sense as blaming a homeowner for being robbed.
You punish the offender for the crime, not blame the victim.
Roofie can cause someone to go “lights out” forever.Lotsa of women go into a coma and never come out.
Maybe if these jerks are convicted, they will be given roofies and placed into general population of the prison. Aint so funny meow, is it buddy.

Interesting, just yesterday I was pounding my oldest kid about the key steps to take to keep from having his house robbed (no, he doesn’t have a house yet...but hopefully he will). He could leave the door unlocked, put an ad in the paper and tell (potential) robbers that he will prosecute them if they lay a finger on my house...but I doubt it would help much (to say the least).
Same thing when driving a car. I had an accident once when it was more than obvious that it was the other guy’s fault (and no one ever contested that). He pulled straight out in front of me from a stop sign at a “Tee” intersection. I spent 3 weeks trying to figure out what I did wrong, and I finally concluded that my car didn’t have Daytime Running Lights (i.e., headlights on during the day), so I wired them in to two of my cars - the next car in that situation will at least see me.
Yes, rape is different - but I seriously doubt there ANY mom or dad in this country (or any other country) that has not told her daughter to be careful (in one way or another) when she goes out. After all...isn’t that implying that the girl does indeed have some control over it...and if so, then it’s not as black and white as you want others to believe.
One other thing...if you read my post, you’ll see it was a general statement. I didn’t blame the victim, in that case.
Now in the case of reporter Laura Logan, who dives into a enraged mob in Egypt dressing like she’s going to play in Manhattan, I sure as heck did blame her. Why? Because it is a different country, with a different set of rules. And she sure as heck should have known better - and trying punish and shame the guys that attack her was (obviously) not going to work over there. So, yes, there are times that I meet your complaint.
