WASHINGTON As the United States and other nations build ties with Libyan rebels and leaders of the political opposition trying to oust Libyan strongman Moammar Gadhafi, intelligence suggests al-Qaida and other terrorists have a small presence within the opposition group, a top military commander said Tuesday.
Adm. James Stavridis, the NATO Supreme Allied Commander in Europe, told Congress that officials have seen "flickers" of possible al-Qaida and Hezbollah among the rebel forces, but at this point no evidence there are significant numbers within the group's leadership.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend. At least this week or until were bankrupt and the foreign aid runs out. Then I dont know what the enemy of my enemy is any more other than maybe a UN Human Rights Commission panel member or potential Nobel Prize winner.
We should just let them kill each other.
Duh otherwise Obama would have promoted the leaders of the rebels instead of hiding them.
This is like saying someone has a small amount of AIDS.
“Obama pals around with terrorists” -Sarah Palin
Ask and you shall receive.
And, combat troops shouldn't be a surprise to anyone either, because that's exactly what Palin suggested almost three weeks ago.
The situation is of sufficient complexity to completely evade our CIC’s understanding; an all too common scenario. The community organizer is perpetually in over his head.
Small presence? Flickers?
They’re in charge, dummies. And Obama is well aware of it. That’s why he’s helping them.
“We should just let them kill each other.”
The dead enemy of my enemy is still dead and so is my enemy.
Let God sort it out.
For some reason a few here (thank God not many), including OldSourPuss, have decided that the true fight is against....
Sarah Palin.
That's right, let's fight against Sarah Palin, that's the ticket. That'll help.
Good day to you gents, I have no interest in spending time with a curmudgeon who has no interest in fighting the correct fight.
This sounds like “Gun Runner II” in Africa. AQ will show the u s what brutality really is.
It's pretty clear to anyone who's paying attention that Obama and Palin are on the same exact page as it relates to Libya. In fact, Obama adopted Palin's position, not the other way around.
"Good day to you gents, I have no interest in spending time with a curmudgeon who has no interest in fighting the correct fight."
Is what someone would say if they don't know how to defend Palin's demand for a no-fly zone and her admission that ground troops might be necessary. I don't blame you for not wanting to defend that.
Sometimes it seems that Hussein’s regime has switched sides in the War on Terror.
So in two months when this circus is still ongoing with no end in sight, and Kadaffy still in power, what are the odds that the Hildebeest and Mrs. Cass Sunstein are both thrown under Premier Hussein’s bus??
The Far Left base of the Democrats are howling mad over this and they are just getting madder by the minute the longer this goes on. At some point the pressure on Premier Hussein is going to force him to “do something” to divert responsibility for all of this, so why not put it on the Hawk Hens and fire them both?
John F’in Kerry, (D. Viet) is slobbering to be SecState, and if it comes to this I would not be surprised to see him be the Hildebeest’s relief; even at the cost of alienating the entire Arkansas Mafia and the substantial Dhimmie base of Clintonistas.
No s*it Sherlock. But Obama says most are good and responsible.
Only in his muslim mind.
the choice is between Red Arabs and Islamists, my money is on the most ruthless...The islamists. This is a remake of the iranian B movie from 1979.
Sarah is digging her hole deeper. She is not doing us any favors.
Paging John McCain...
