This is smart. The Dems wanted to turn the debate away from debt reduction and discipline to “those evil Republicans shutting down the government”. Take the small victory, build momentum, take a false issue away from them and live to fight another day. Don’t throw the good out for the sake of the perfect.
Name one good thing about such a meaningless, miniscule cut in our out of control spending. 1/2 of 1% or whatever the fraction turns out to be? Get real.
Attitudes and negotiating approaches like yours is why we have such debt and why Boehner feels confident in his fecklessness.
Momentum?
What do we shoot for next year( after adding 2,000 billion more in debt), 34 billion cut?
At this rate the budget should be neutral by 2180.
I can give you $15,000,000,0000,000 reasons why this is not good enough [that’s 15 trillion in debt]

I agree with you, ... BUT ... they needed it to be $60-100 billion ... that’s why it was wrong to go in with $60 billion upfront, they should have been bolder.
Everything the GOP does gets watered down 4X.
They NEEDED to defund Obamacare and make that a key principle, not take it off the table. They needed to do a $100b+ cut.
It’s also why the Democrats/Reid HAVE DONE NOTHING. They dont want any fingerprints on this... Republicans should stick to their guns UNTIL REID PASSES AN ALTERNATIVE.
Boehner should go back and say “Great, pass it in the Senate, then we will pass something in the House and lets compromise from there” the ‘there’ will be a Senate version at $30 b and a house version of $60b ,so you get AT LEAST $30b and hopefully more like $50b at the end.
What are you drinking?
Compromise is weakness.
They better cut all they said they would or they’re out next election. I’m tired of this ‘living to fight another day’ BS.
Hold to the last man NOW.
How much time do we have? Can we run a $1.5T Deficit this year? How about a $1.4T the year after that? What about after that?
I mean if you have no limit then there is no reason to cut anything so what is your limit? How much time do we have?
