Wingtips on the ground.
How long will it take the weapons we supply to Libyan rebels to begin killing Americans in A-stan and Iraq?
al Qaeda now has us over a barrel. If the rebels lose, we lose prestige. The rebels can use this to milk the US for all kinds of goodies, diverting part of every shipment to their allies in other battlefields.
Great Charts that we won’t see on TV.
Iran/Iraq war strategy coming up.
I think it depends on what they give them. Any type of portable missiles would be valuable to terrorists.
I imagine what they're considering is small arms, portable heavier weapons like the Javelin antitank missiles, 81 mm and 4.2-inch mortars. They don't need Stingers because of the No-Fly Zone. If they're talking about tracked vehicles, tanks and artillery we'll have to provide personnel to operate it or get people from a country like Egypt or Iraq that are trained on American equipment.
The problem so far is despite all the air support the rebels can't prevail in a firefight with Gaddafi's troops. They don't have training, communications, logistics or any command structure. To fix all that would take months and hundreds of advisers and trainers. So when the White House talks about “arming the rebels” they're not telling the totality of the project.
Sounds like a mix between Pre-VN/”Gun-Walker” op.
Give guns to “rebels” and they end up in Afgan/Pak to kill U.S. Soldiers. Remember we are dealing with incompetent/unqualified idealogues here.
People tend to forget that the koranimals chewed on him.
Koranimals.
So what super secret and critical role is Valerie Plame playing in this operation?
Depends on what the meaning of “is” is or “boots” is or “on the ground” is......
Wake me up!!!!
Surely we have learned enough from our experiences in Iraq and Afghanistann to be very cautious here...surely....
Libyan rebels sold Hizballah and Hamas chemical shells
According to US Adm. James Stavridis Senior Libyan rebel officers sold Hizballah and Hamas thousands of chemical shells from the stocks of mustard and nerve gas that fell into rebel hands when they overran Muammar Qaddafis military facilities in and around Benghazi, debkafiles exclusive military and intelligence sources report.
Word of the capture touched off a scramble in Tehran and among the terrorist groups it sponsors to get hold of their first unconventional weapons.
According to our sources, the rebels offloaded at least 2,000 artillery shells carrying mustard gas and 1,200 nerve gas shells for cash payment amounting to several million dollars.
US and Israeli intelligence agencies have tracked the WMD consignments from eastern Libya as far as Sudan in convoys secured by Iranian agents and Hizballah and Hamas guards. They are not believed to have reached their destinations in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, apparently waiting for an opportunity to get their deadly freights through without the US or Israel attacking and destroying them.
It is also not clear whether the shells and gases were assembled upon delivery or were travelling in separate containers. Our sources report that some of the poison gas may be intended not only for artillery use but also for drones which Hizballah recently acquired from Iran.
Tehran threw its support behind the anti-Qaddafi rebels because of this unique opportunity to get hold of the Libyan rulers stock of poison gas after it fell into opposition hands and arm Hizballah and Hamas with unconventional weapons without Iran being implicated in the transaction.
Shortly after the uprising began in the third week of February, a secret Iranian delegation arrived in Benghazi. Its members met rebel chiefs, some of them deserters from the Libyan army, and clinched the deal for purchasing the entire stock of poison gas stock and the price.
The rebels threw in a quantity of various types of anti-air missiles.
Hizballah and Hamas purchasing missions arrived in the first week of March to finalize the deal and arrange the means of delivery.
The first authoritative American source to refer to a Hizballah presence in Benghazi was the commander of US NATO forces Adm. James Stavridis. When he addressed a US Senate committee on Tuesday, March 29, he spoke of telltale signs of the presence of Islamic insurgents led by Al-Qaeda and Hizballah on the rebel side of the Libyan war. He did not disclose what they were doing there.
Where can I buy tickets?
Think the “Fighting Tomboys” could take em out?
He has a mujahadeen outfit photo op too. Michele is just a prop wife but the kids are real (poor children.)
This is a level of stupidity almost beyond belief.
I thought that those weapons were destroyed when we invaded Iraq and Kadafi thought he was next.
Hilary and Obama have really handed the CIA a handful. How to take about a thousand hotheaded, untrained, disorganized men, loyal to about ten different and disparate groups and ideologies, each with different ideas about who to kill or who they hate the most; and make a bonafide rebellion or war out of them. All this to cover up the glaring fact that Hilary and Obama have made about the stupidest misstep in history.
There are reports that the “rebels” themselves are now murdering and kidnapping their own set of “civilians” they have a grudge against. Good luck to the CIA is all I’ve got to say. They’ll probably have to covertly import their own “Libyan resistance fighters” to pull this off.
But, for the good of the country, we can’t let our President and Secretary of State be exposed for the dumbazzes they really are, could we?
The CIA has sent more than a dozen covert operatives to Libya, under the illegal orders of an unqualified president.
WE HAVE NO BUSINESS IN LIBYA.........NONE!
THe USA has no national security interest there.Obama commits our soldiers lives in a humanitarian effort to aid Al Qaeda and Muslim Brotherhood?
GET US OUT OF THERE SOMEONE.............OUT!!
Well, no boots that 'count'...
