When situations and logistics deteriorate, combined with collapse of civil order... The last place you want to be is the last man holding the last of the food.
There are not enough bullets, and the individual man will falter and break in short time before he can do what will appear momentarily necessary.
And the food will still run out after the producers and logistic personnel have been shot.

What I'm referring to is the straight CONVERSION of financial assets to another currency or currencies. For instance, instead of owning Cheniere Energy, which is priced in US dollars, one might own Penn West, which is priced in Canadian $. One can very easily open an account at, say, Canadian Imperial Bank and purchase CDs denominated in Canadian $. Many, many choices here.
