VHEMT (pronounced vehement) is a movement not an organization. It’s a movement advanced by people who care about life on planet Earth. We’re not just a bunch of misanthropes and anti-social, Malthusian misfits, taking morbid delight whenever disaster strikes humans. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Voluntary human extinction is the humanitarian alternative to human disasters.
We don’t carry on about how the human race has shown itself to be a greedy, amoral parasite on the once-healthy face of this planet. That type of negativity offers no solution to the inexorable horrors which human activity is causing.
Rather, The Movement presents an encouraging alternative to the callous exploitation and wholesale destruction of Earth’s ecology.
As VHEMT Volunteers know, the hopeful alternative to the extinction of millions of species of plants and animals is the voluntary extinction of one species: Homo sapiens... us.
Each time another one of us decides to not add another one of us to the burgeoning billions already squatting on this ravaged planet, another ray of hope shines through the gloom.
When every human chooses to stop breeding, Earth’s biosphere will be allowed to return to its former glory, and all remaining creatures will be free to live, die, evolve (if they believe in evolution), and will perhaps pass away, as so many of Nature’s “experiments” have done throughout the eons.
It’s going to take all of us going.

IIRC, the Shakers had a similar philosophy. And it apparently worked for them.
We have become so liberal in this world, that an organization such as this can be allowed to exist.
I think the movement will have trouble. Some of the liberal radical types who would be attracted to this are also very much into sexual recklessness. A certain amount of that sort of thing leads to pregnancies, and the species would survive that way.
This whole conversation makes me want to have another baby. My fifth is growing up way too fast.
Let’s speed up the process. Let’s all put a cleaner bag over our heads. You VHEMT people go first and show us how it is done. We’ll be right behind you, honest.

So in a couple billion years when the sun expands and cooks the earth to a cinder what was it all for???
We may be the only intelligent life form in this usinverse and what a waste it would be if we in our willful ignorance destroyed the one part of the universe (ourselves) that is capable of looking intot he universe with wonder and imagining “Why are we here? Is there anyone else out there? How did it all start?”
Yeah, I am sure all the other animals out there will be able to pick up the slack in our self imposed extinction..... /s

Who is going to save the animals when the sun expands and burns them? If we are not around, NOTHING will. It would have been pointless to extictify ourselves to save the animals and plants if they get roasted into a cinder anyways.
If we expand humanity into space, we will bring bits of home out with us into the cosmos, thus saving them from the inevitable cruel burning fate that awaits us if we stay here on earth.
These groups like this need to be stamped out NOW, otherwise they WILL radicalize and it won’t be long until one of these nutters releases a plauge to try in their owns words “to cleanse the planet of human filth”.
After a quick review of the "highlight reel" from my twenties, I have come to the conclusion that swine will take wing and Hell will freeze before this happens.
