Le Pen is mightier than Le Sarkozy (in spite of the moving-to-the-middle trick). Possibly something Le Obama needs to think about.
National Front took close to 12% of the vote. Le Pen can no longer be dismissed as "fringe". In the next election Sarkozy's main worry is that he will be considered "neither hot nor cold" and people will shift to National Front.
"Moderates" do not do well when people are given a real choice.
