Japan's Self-Defense Forces and the US military continue a large-scale operation to find those still missing in the March 11th earthquake and tsunami.

The 3-day joint search began on Friday. It covers the Pacific coastal areas of Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures.

Authorities say 53 bodies had been recovered as of 3 PM on Saturday.

An estimated 15,540 people are listed as missing in the March 11th earthquake and tsunami, bringing the number of dead or missing to more than 27,000.

The toll is expected to rise as search operations are not being conducted in areas 20 kilometers around the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

Low body fat, clothing weight, cold air and cold water probably means many bodies wont float.

And here my friends thought I was crazy when assessing the aftermath that the numbers were going to be in the tens of thousands.
They’re reasoning was that the media was only reporting 600 dead.

I appreciate the Ping.

Unfortunately the video at the site does not work for me.

I’d like to see it. I believe it is the site that has the problem.

My stuff is pretty much up to date.

27,000 (conservatively) and it barely registers on the US consciousness. Thanks, media.

Yes I see so little about Japan, it is because they can take care of themselves, unlike the Haitians!

And many bodies will be trapped inside buildings swept out to sea. After a period of time, the remaining missing will be declared legally dead. Which would be great if you were a criminal who survived the catastrophe and wanted to make a new start.

Actually, a number of petty criminals, in Fukushima Prefecture, were let go right after the 9.0 shaker, because the jail collapsed or otherwise the facilities became unsafe for habitation, so they more or less just escaped into the general population. But believe me, they won’t get very far.

I am not talking about them. They are already accounted for. But if there were a warrant out for your arrest and you were in the worst hit area, you could disappear.

Honestly, friends, media makes me puke.
All you need to know about them you can see in their so-called “coverage,” which focuses on uninformed radiation hysteria and barely mentions the factual, HUGE, humanitarian crisis in Japan.
