It isn’t exactly a private company since the president appoints board members. It is better described a fascist-type government/corporate hybrid.

The Fed is something like FRE and FNM - corporate/government hybrids where decisions are made outside the purview of the electorate that result in privatized gains for a few and socialized losses for all taxpayers. The Fed is far worse as their actions destroy the dollar and it is all kept secret (except for insiders). You think the decisions they make aren't discussed and cleared beforehand through the for profit banks like Goldman? The entire system is corrupt and we're the saps.
