Donald Trump bashes President Bush(Flashback 2008)
New York Daily News ^ | June 10, 2008 | BY ELLEN TUMPOSKY

ABERDEEN, Scotland - The Donald to W: "You stink."

Donald Trump trashed President Bush Tuesday as a "terrible" President who has destroyed the world economy - but insisted the global crunch wouldn't stall his planned $2 billion golf resort.

"We have a President in the United States who's terrible. He stinks," Trump said.

Trump said he can't wait to see Bush head back to Texas after the November election is done.

"Hopefully, we'll have a good, new President, whoever he is," Trump said.

He praised both major party candidates - Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee and John McCain, his Republican counterpart.

"[Obama] has done an amazing job," Trump said. "He came from nowhere."

The tycoon called McCain "a friend of mine" who made a stunning political comeback.

Either will be better than Bush, said Trump.

Trump, who was in Scotland on personal business and not for U.S. politics, told a hearing on his planned megaresort that the economic climate has dramatically worsened since he first started buying land north of Aberdeen for the project.

He declared bankruptcy twice, talk to people who have done business with him, the word is he a lying scumbag and I will leave that there.

People who can’t pay their own massive debts, twice, should not be preaching financial responsibility.

This freak is a genius at self promotion, he does not want to run for president, this is to get airtime. Now suddenly he is a birther - conjured up out of thin air to get massive tv coverage and it is working. He does this every election - starts making noise about populist beliefs, get a lot of coverage and then drop out on the eve of the primaries. It helps his other business interests and free advertising.

Pro-life, give me a break.

He can keep his Victoria Secrets girl friends and his hair stylist. He is not real!

Trump openly admits his harsh criticism of Bush, he has never tried to duck this.

Cripes, there's probably 35,000 FReepers who openly admit their criticism of Bush...

If Trump wants to see something that stinks, he should watch his TV show.

“GW Bush was a disappointment.”

And that’s his up-side. He was an embarrassment and was incompetent on so many levels. We might’ve been able to survive Hussein’s administration if Bush hadn’t started the ball rolling downhill while in office. Pathetic.

GW Bush was a disappointment. He was strong out of the gates, but finished a distant third or fourth.

Could it be because he had a democratic controlled congress that would not work with him on any level?

Yeah that 4.5 percent unemployment was a real downer.

I’m no huge fan of Trump, but there was a lot about Bush to bash in my opinion.

Like what?

That’s right. Even after the financial hit of 9/11, Bush had the economy in good shape until the Dems took Congress in Jan 2007, began trashing it, and blaming it on him.

Yeah that 4.5 percent unemployment was a real downer.

What did Bush do as president to maintain that?

Also, if Bush's policies were so great how did the collapse happen at the end of his presidency?

Call it ‘vetting’ the candidate, you can decide anyway you want, but this conversation should happen.

Oh, man that is funny if not sad.

Bush's policy of cheap, and I mean cheap, money is what set the ball rolling for massive debt.

Bush grew the Dept of Education by 100%.

Chris Cox, under Bush, let the uptick rule die allowing massive speculation in the markets.

Bush pushed for tax dollars to be used pay down payments on homes for minorities and illegals.

Oh, and don't forget, Bush wanted a "new America" where we would all be speaking spanish...

THE "NEW AMERICAN"
..........<

We are now one of the largest Spanish-speaking nations in the world. We're a major source of Latin music, journalism and culture.

Just go to Miami, or San Antonio, Los Angeles, Chicago or West New York, New Jersey ... and close your eyes and listen. You could just as easily be in Santo Domingo or Santiago, or San Miguel de Allende.

For years our nation has debated this change -- some have praised it and others have resented it. By nominating me, my party has made a choice to welcome the new America.

Our future cannot be separated from the future of Latin America.

As I speak, we are celebrating the success of democracy in Mexico.

George Bush from a campaign speech in Miami, August 2000.

You can read the speech here.

Here is an excerpt of a good critique of that speech:

In equating our intimate historic bonds to our mother country and to Canada with our ties to Mexico, W. shows a staggering ignorance of the civilizational facts of life. The reason we are so close to Britain and Canada is that we share with them a common historical culture, language, literature, and legal system, as well as similar standards of behavior, expectations of public officials, and so on. You people have to stop believing what you see on tv. Are you seriously gonna blame Bush for the financial collapse in 2008 and not give him credit for the low unemployment and economic growth prior to 2007? I have the charts on my PC but don’t know how to post them. I will email them to you if you like.

And, Jorge Bush vetoed all of those spending bills, right?

Agreed that it is time to call Bush what he was. A big spending incompetent. He had a GOP congress for a large portion of his term. Yet he allowed the wall street banks to have 40 to 1 leverage courtesy of his treasury secretary in 2004 waiving the leverage rule. That is a big part of what brought things down.

He allowed his big business Texas buddies to flood the US the with cheap and illegal Mexican labor. He blew a hole open in the budget with spending. He went into Iraq with way too few troops.

In the end, I really can only support the guy for his handling of 9-11 which was outstanding leadership and his two conservative Supreme Court picks.
