The Mexican Army announced the seizure Saturday of a large weapons cache that included machine guns, rocket launchers, grenades, explosives, mortars and even one crossbow.
The seizure occurred at about 11:30 p.m. Friday, according to the announcement.
A military convoy was conducting routine patrols through the city streets when they spotted a group of men who suspiciously ran into a house in order to elude capture, the army said. The soldiers secured the house but were not able to find the men but they seized a weapons cache and $59,700 in cash.
The weapons seized included 59 assault rifles, 21 handguns, seven Uzi submachine guns, one .762-caliber machine gun, 412 packs of hydrogel industrial explosive, 12 meters of detonation cord, one rocket launcher, one rocket, one grenade launcher, six rounds for 60 mm mortar, three launchable grenades, one RPG and several other grenades.

I would like to see that .762 machine gun. The cartridges are formed from finely-drawn wire.

Large cache of weapons seized in Matamoros[Mexico]Three years ago I would have expected this headline to read, "Large cache of weapons seized in Iraq". Now its Mexico...yikes, has Mexico gone that far downhill? Waht's next? Suicide bombings?

What’s with the fascination for a crossbow, a medieval weapon? Other than being historically quaint (and deadly), it’s not a typical “bragging rights” weapon in the 21st century. Maybe journalists get a perverted shiver down their backs when they see one?

Drug test everyone in the US. Trade one druggie for every illegal Mexican. I think we trade up on this deal.

A modern Crossbow is not like a medieval crossbow..
A modern one has a scope or even night vision..
and is much more powerful of a weapon..
