Email Threats Giffords-Style Attack on New York Lawmakers
WBEN 930 AM News ^ | Rachel Kingston Reporting

Posted on 04/03/2011 11:16:42 AM PDT by SandRat

Albany, NY (WBEN) -- State Police in the Capitol region are investigating a series of threatening emails that were sent to numerous state and local lawmakers in Albany on Friday.

The emails are "similar in content," according to investigators. Troopers are not officially releasing any further information, citing the sensitivity of the investigation.

But an Albany-area television station obtained a copy of the email Friday evening, from Assemblyman James Tedisco. (Click here read the entire text of the email, courtesy of WTEN-TV). [email Text near the bottom of the WTEN page that opened]

In it, the writer expresses outrage over government power, and the perceived arrogance of politicians and those who support them. The person threatens a mass-shooting like the one in Tucson earlier this year, in which Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was critically wounded and several other people, including a federal judge and a nine-year-old girl, were killed.

"It is obvious to me that the wealthy in this country are so well insulated that nothing will pull them off task and that, in order to deal with them, I need to incite people to violence. In a day where those in power are bold enough to eliminate labor unions and the government conducts surveillance on Americans whenever they speak out, the response must be violence," the email opens.

The author claims to work in a state office, and promises to exploit that connection.

"I personally am going to use my position and contacts in State government to gather information about the vulnerabilities of public and private targets in New York. The idiots that I work with don't have the slightest idea about my extracurricular activities," the writer says.

"There is one legislator who should immediately recognize the writer of this message because 3 years ago, I spoke to him in person and warned him about these very topics, including the school attacks. But you know what - I bet he wasn't paying attention. We're going to get his attention," the person taunts.

The writer also threatens to attack school busses full of children, as a way to create a public uproar, and says that print and broadcast journalists who "do the bidding for those in power and side against unions and the working class in favor of pro-corporate nonsense" will be targeted, as well.

The message ends with a chilling reference to the Tucson shooting.

"Come visit my agency. Give me a chance to pull a Gabby Giffords."

Investigators are now trying to trace the obscure Yahoo account from which the messages were sent.

Trooper Maureen Tuffey, the public information officer for State Police Troop G, would not comment Friday on whether additional security is being provided to legislators.

There’s nothing to worry about. New York’s anti-gun laws will ensure that such an event never happens.

In it, the writer expresses outrage over government power, and the perceived arrogance of politicians and those who support them.

The paragraph above, plus the headline, seeks to give the impression the threat comes from a far-right crazy, when buried later in the article we read the threats come from a far-LEFT crazy.

An aside here: Giffords’ (sp) seat should be up for grabs soon since she has been absent for a long time. I belive the time limit is something like 60 days? If so, it has been much longer now.

Who is the Tea Party’s challenger?

All feelings aside, we have to get real and have to get going here.

Life continues with or without one.

Not like the left has or had any regard for children anyway so no big loss to them. I welcome a civil war at this point...I know I am ready and so are my friends.

Very similar to the way that the MSM withholds partisan affiliation in any story about a Democrat committing a crime. They waited till the NINTH paragraph in the story before they got to "do the bidding for those in power and side against unions and the working class in favor of pro-corporate nonsense" etc. The first few paragraphs are written to make it seen that he's somehow "anti-government" a.k.a. another Tea Partier.

The liberal woman near Madison,WI who made specific death threats against WI repubs, has not been arrested, not arraigned, not had any bail amount set and

IS FREE AS A BIRD, not even a worthless restraining order has been issued on her to keep her away from “the children” or the repubs and their families who were also specifically given death threats.

The DA is a lefty, the courts in Dane Co are ruled by lefties, and it’s evidently open season on all repubs in WI.

We have a tyranny.

The whack job who threated the WI repubs is an elementary PUBLIC school teacher.

"I personally am going to use my position and contacts in State government to gather information about the vulnerabilities of public and private targets in New York. The idiots that I work with don't have the slightest idea about my extracurricular activities," the writer says.

An unintended and revealing, to say nothing of valuable moment of honest candidness.
A state employee assessing his fellow state employees!

Things are obviously worse than we thought.

Mind you, the context is uncontrollable fury at not being able to continue getting the "more equal than others" benefits and retirement perks.

I hope the civilian workforce is taking notes.

My favorite invitation from the self-described terrorist's email :

If we attack a school bus full of kids, it may have no effect on the hardened criminals who rule Albany, but it will put the public in an uproar. Our goal is to create anarchy. You'll have to kill us to stop us

It would be my pleasure to do so, doofus, if only your fellow anarchists in law enforcement would lighten up on issuing right to carry permits.

But look at the threatned RINOs who refuse to make a stink about the very person who not only threatened their lives, but the lives of their children. Why aren't these Republican senators screaming about this? Why aren't they filing a writ of mandamus to force her arrest? Why aren't they literally making a federal case out of it, and going after the DA's office?

Liberals cannot function without Leftists.

Leftists cannot function without RINOs.

If you see a liberal/Lefist atrocity, look for the enabling RINOs to find out what is really going on - you'll never come up dry.

Ha, ha, funny stuff! Byrd and Kennedy both held onto their seats long after they were semi-comatose (no doubt still collecting their full salaries). And what about the senator from one of the Dakotas who had a stroke? Has he recovered? Somehow I doubt it, and I’m sure his staff is doing the voting for him. Dems have Republicans cowed. Republicans are scared of appearing to be “mean”.
