I heard a comparison that puts a trillion in perspective . . .(Vanity)

I have had a difficult time wrapping the concept of one trillion around my head. Comparisons to stuff in warehouses and football fields and all just didn't do it for me. But last night, Chuck Missler finally stated a comparison I can fathom.

He put it in terms of seconds. One million seconds is four days. One billion seconds is 32 years. One trillion seconds is 32,000 years.

Think how much money Obama and his Democrats have heaped on us, in these terms.

Every time you hear $1B, that’s $3 for each person in the U.S. (roughly). When you hear $1 trillion, that’s $3,000 for each of us. When Congress pissed away $1T on “stimulus”, a family of four was saddled with roughly $12,000 in additional debt.

Another comparison, the estimate to rebuild Japan after the earthquake/tsunami/nuclear disaster is only $180 Billion.

In other words, if you spent a dollor a second it would take you a trillions seconds~!!

(I make big joke)

But seriously, the defict Odumbass has spent so far is about 6 trillion.

You could give 6 million people a million bucks each.

Thats one out of every 50 us citizens.

And the other 49 out of 50 people have to give him the million.

The math for 1 million seconds is wrong.

You don’t get to 1 million seconds until 11.5 days.

I wonder how much that throws off everything else?

yah, the time math is all wrong.

But here’s one.
Earth’s population is 6.928 billion people.

To reach a trillion people, you’d need 144 earths.

One trillion seconds is 32,000 years.

A new perspective. Considering the fact that I'll be ninety years old in 45 years, God willing.

yah, the time math is all wrong.

1000,000,000 seconds (or 1 trillion seconds) =

16,666,667 minutes =

277,778 hours =

11,574 days =

32 years

The number for 1,000,000 seconds is wrong; the others are accurate to “two significant figures”.

Yup. Uncharted economic teritory. A hole too big to climb out of. When you have to express debt in numbers normally used in astronomy you're screwed.

Think of it this way. A thousand seconds is a coffee break, a million seconds is a vacation, a billion seconds is a career and a trillion seconds is 310 centuries

Here, broke out the calculator and double checked the numbers:

1 million seconds = 11.5740740741 days = 11 days, 13 hours, 46 minutes, 40 seconds

1 billion seconds = 31.7097919838 years = 31 years, 259 days, 1 hour, 46 minutes, 40 seconds

1 trillion seconds = 31,709.791838 years = 31,709 years, 289 days, 1 hour, 46 minutes, 40 seconds

and just in case you’re dying to know, 4 days is actually 345600 seconds

That's the best comparison I've heard, and it needs to be a GOP talking point for the next two years. Did we really get an extra $12k a year per family out of the Stimulus/TARP/fiasco that our feds have created over the past few years? Most voters would say "no" and mean it.

Will our children and grandchildren desecrate nobama’s grave (if his burial place is known)?

You are correct but he got the other two right. 11.57 times 1000 divided by 365 is close to 32.
