“From the Catholic Encyclopedia (published originally in 1912): But, in order to understand fully what Socialism is and what it implies, it is necessary first to glance at the history of the movement, then to examine its philosophical and religious tendencies, and finally to consider how far these may be, and actually have proved to be, incompatible with Christian thought and life.”
For once I have to agree with the Catholic position.
Oh, good grief, you people! Enough with the thread hijacking already.
Sheesh.
Wow, just wow. Really?
I’d like to hear a bit of your reasoning for that particular bit of nonsense.
He is, as He is still living.
As Archie Bunker said - sure, Jesus was a Jew, but only on his mother’s side.
“Why call it Judeo-Christian when in reality it is Christian?”
Christianity is essentially - from its beginnings - a Jewish “cult.”
Christ was a Jew as were all the apostles. And while Luke was a gospel writer and a gentile, he was not an apostle. He was Paul’s fellow-traveler.
The name “Christian” (originally pronounced Christ-eee-an) - first used in Antioch - was originally a term of derision used to taunt Jewish believers.
It’s a completely and utterly bogus claim. If Communism were rooted in Catholicism, why don’t we see it until after the Reformation?
Thank you for my new Tag Line
Prov 29:2
Which particular bit do you want to know more about?
This nonsense you posted.
Our Savior is a Jew.
I don’t think that’s a defensible position historically, philosophically or religiously.
Is this a discussion in which one or the other of us will learn something? Are you interested in new knowledge or just defending your beliefs?
Sir, or Ma’am,
I believe that Jesus is/was the Son of God and the Son of man; that He followed Gods will, came to earth, born of a virgin; He led a perfect, sinless life; laid His life down and died on the cross; was buried in a borrowed tomb; and rose again on the third day; He ascended to heaven and sits at the right hand of God and will return to this earth.
In His words He came to find that which was lost - the Jewish nation, the people of God. He was rejected and His salvation was extended to all. Jesus the man was a Jew. And when one accepts Him as Savior, one is grafted into the vine, the vine of Gods people.
If you say that I am just defending my beliefs, so be it. But to try to ‘teach’ me that what is above is wrong, well, you would be wasting your time and this forums bandwidth.
If you will not consider that that which I have written is true, then you do not wish to ‘learn’ either.

Accepted.

Can you show me exactly which verse of scripture you are referring to? I think I know, but I want to be certain. Also, can you define Jew for me so that we're not talking at cross purposes?
