To: Straight Vermonter
My understanding is that you can only be a registered voter in one state. College students can be ineligible in WI if they are registered voters in a different home state.

There are no lists to check or procedures for doing so. And in the unlikely event you get caught, what's the penalty? Two hours picking up trash along the highway???

Nobody has ever gone to jail for vote fraud.

They can’t legally be registered in a home state. They can only be registered in the state in which they reside. If they go to school in WI for 9 months a year they can only be registered there.

This was a big issue here in the 80s. The left wanted the out of state college kids to be able to vote here and they won in the supreme court. Of course I realize that most of them probably vote twice.

Reports on radio said that UW-Madison students not only voted by absentee ballot (from their hometowns) but also cast ballots in Madison. Happens every election. A man called in today to local radio and said he witnessed it again today. Dem business as usual.
