I am happy that Smith-Corona went bankrupt and that Western Union was forced to abandon its old business practices. If the government had bailed out these companies, wed still be banging out papers on manual typewriters and communicating by telegram. Instead, the typewriter has been relegated to museums (and perhaps a few Birkenstock-wearing, hipster screenwriters offices somewhere) and messaging is done over phones that are smarter than the people who keep bailing out failing companies. Actually, Im indifferent to the success or failure of either of these particular companies, but I champion the free market- a meritocracy -

Unlimited government creates poverty - it always has and it always will. Government cannot create wealth - never has, never will.
Only the free-market economy creates wealth - it always has and it always will.
I don't care if the stupid government doesn't get it (they never will). But the American people MUST get it.

Big Gov’t takes away the kids’ Happy Meals and tries to regulate what is in them. That’s what the problem is.....we need to clean house here in the US starting at the local level.

Yes, the free market works much better than government. The government is far too big and crushes our standard of living.
I will say the government has a role however in our economy:
1) It must be involved in giving us a solid currency so we can have a valid economy. Of this they are doing a terrible job.
2) It must enforce contracts and laws.
3) It must issue and enforce patents.
4) It must regulate interstate commerce.
5) It must operate Core of Engineers, i.e. keep our rivers and ports navigable.
6) It must keep our borders secure. It goes without saying they are doing a horrific job. Is there a grade lower than F?
7) It must to the most limited degree be involved in Transportation. This is required for our highways and airways.
8) Government might be involved in some very basic R&D especially as regards to national defense and security. But this should be the absolute minimum required. For example I hate big government but we do need something like a CDC. This is a security issue. Beyond this government should stay as small as possible. But I'm not an anarchist. We need some government but it needs to be as small as absolutely possible.

All legitimate things for government to do, and all provided for in the Constitution. The problem is that marxists aka Democrats see the Consitution as (a) something to be used to divide and conquer the population through race and gender baiting and (b) something to be worked around, not as something to be followed.

Sometimes you really need a typewriter. And some times you really need the government. In either case the event is rare.
Both are bulky, obsolete and occupying space that would be better served with something else.
Our word processing computers replaced typewriters. Over the years or computers have been getting smaller, and smaller. Typewriters are about the same, but the government didn't get the cue.

So why did Wisconsin voters elect a communist for higher taxes to save big government unions.

So why did Wisconsin voters elect a communist for higher taxes to save big government unions.
Because they are not terribly bright.
