I know it is “illegal” to release a COLB in HI, but what is the punishment? A misdemeanor? I’d love to have Trump offer a cool million for the person who releases it. And he pays all prosecution fees/fines. I would be willing to go to jail for a couple of months to collect such a sweet payday.

Actually, at this point it is REQUIRED that the HDOH release a copy of all Obama’s birth records, according to Hawaii law. They just can’t release a CERTIFIED copy to anybody but Obama or somebody with a legitimate interest. That’s because:
1) Obama already published the information so it has no privacy interest to exempt it from disclosure.
2) Fukino made an announcement about what is on his “vital records” and so she is required to release the documentation for that to anybody who asks for it. I believe the same thing would hold true for the records that Abercrombie said in a public interview that he found in the State Archives.
3) There is a “scintilla” of public interest which outweighs the privacy exemption to disclosure.
4) The HDOH Administrative Rules allow anyone to get any other person’s non-certified abbreviated certificate.
Hawaii is BS-ing with almost everything they say. Disgusting that they can get away with it.
