Amid the threat of a looming government shutdown, House Speaker John Boehner is getting emotional again.

Per ABC News's Jon Karl, the Republican leader, who is known for his tears, was updating the House GOP caucus this morning on the ongoing budget stand-off when his emotions got the best of him. As he was thanking fellow Republicans for sticking with him amid the tense negotiations, the GOP lawmakers rose to give him a standing ovation, prompting Boehner to weep.

"Yes," a person at the private meeting tells ABC. "He cried, but only briefly."

I understand his emotional to the point of tears on Election Night...

But... really now... if this report is true, Boehner’s showing some emotional fragility not befitting someone in his position. We need a kick-ass head knocker for a Speaker, not someone who blubbers at the first hint of upheaval.

The Dems served up a huge “crap sandwich” to the incoming GOP by not passing their own budget. He thanks Republicans for sticking with him during this fiasco and they give him a standing O in appreciation for the job he’s doing.

If the media wasn’t attacking him for being emotional, their meme would be something a thousand times more vicious and hateful. He cries. So what.

I agree, what's the big deal? The dude is emotional when shown appreciation. Boehner came from a humble background, worked for everything he has, and has never asked for any praise. When it's given, especially a standing-O, it's not something he's used to, and he's overwhelmed. When obama gets a compliment about his "oratory" skills, his response is, "I know, I know, I have a gift."

They think it'll be a replay of the 1995 shutdown, with the Media playing their spin and beating the Tea Party into oblivion, as Obama disciplines the black voters to come out for him next year and all the Social Security recipients to remember who's signing their checks. Jerk that chain!

And I believe the dems' tactics will actually work to their advantage in 2012, but if a shutdown has to happen, so be it. It's still the right thing, since the dems won't budge.

I think Boehner’s being kicked harder here on FR than on the OFA-infested Yahoo forum.

The MSM who lurk here are probably laughing their asses off at the invective they’re able to get the right to hurl at their own.

The entire article was short and snarky and designed to do exactly what we’re seeing, I think.

“How in the Hell, did we get this weak kneed crybaby foisted upon us?”

Well, he is a Republican, right?

Yes, and “it’s his turn”.

As you say ..... Republican clubbiness and unerring sense of whose turn it is.

Remember when it was “Bob Dole’s turn”? And then “John McCain’s turn”? Well, it’s “Romney’s turn” and “Boehner’s turn” as Speaker.

Bring on the Tea Partiers, I can’t wait.

Beyond the clubbiness, it’s also the Fortune 500/Chamber of Commerce agenda at work. A lot of the Obozo agenda is also their agenda: “capital formation” of the Boys Downtown via Fed stoking (TARP etc.), ObamaCare to throw Granny in the snow and the voters off employer-paid plans, etc.

Lots of slimy deals going on in back rooms over the last five years have manifested in the Obozo agenda, and Boehner and the RiNO’s imho are under orders from the Chamber crowd to fight to lose.”

What did the old timers call a fighter who threw fights “Canvas Back” or something like that, This crap is done with now, we need a change, they Knew who would have been effective but put in this turkey in the seat anyway,You are 100% Right and thanks for the post.

lol, I know! He's being called Speaker Boohoo here on FR(okay, that IS funny in a snarky way).

I think Boehner is doing a pretty good job. It doesn't hurt for constituents to keep these guys' feet to the fire with phone calls, etc, We'll see how he handles the upcoming Friday deadline.

He needs to check out the “Low T” commercial, get some hormone shots, and get back in the game. Man up, dude! We just got done with one lady as Speaker - she was wrong, and had no brains, but she more testicular fortitude.

About 10 years ago, my urologist suggested that I get "T" injections every 3 weeks. My wife was convinced it was my fault that our attempts at producing a third child were unsuccessful.

I remember two things about those treatments: the shots were very uncomfortable, and zits.

Having a Speaker that cries is one thing, but a Speaker with zits? I dunno...

John,

It is time to lead, follow or get out of the way and if the best you can do is ‘cry about it,’ then get out of the way.

Weirdly enough, I think this is good for his image. It’s hard for Pelosi to call him a cold-blooded SOB (over budget cuts) when the headlines are continually about him tearing up.

...the OFA-infested Yahoo forum.

"OFA" = ?

"Our Friend Arnie"?

"Orphaned Farm Animal"?

"Olfactory Fart Assistant"?

Between the leathery-smoker’s-facial-skin and the over-done tanning, who would notice the zits? I say go for the “Low T” shots to man up!

In that case, "orphaned farm animal" is close, too.

As in, herds of wildebeest.

“What a load of sexist crap.”

My stars and garters, did you actually use the word “sexist” with a straight face?

Here is my default position regarding women in any position except housewife, schoolteacher, or nurse, as expressed by Thomas Jefferson:

Were our State a pure democracy...there would yet be excluded from their deliberations...women, who, to prevent depravation of morals and ambiguity of issue, should not mix promiscuously in the public meetings of men. (Letter from Thomas Jefferson to Samuel Kercheval)

However, there are exceptions: Catherine the Great, Elizabeth the First, Golda Meir, Margaret Thatcher, and now Sarah Palin.

The Republicans have long been known as “The Stupid Party.” They should now be known as “The Stupid, Cowardly, Rubber-Chicken-Eating, Surrender-Sissy Party.”

When Joe Wilson shouted out to Obama, “You Lie,” which was nothing more than the simple truth, every decent man in that room should have leapt to his feet and joined in a spontaneous demonstration, chanting “You lie, you lie, you lie,” until the Kenyan Commie had to leave the room. Instead, they left the only real man among them to twist in the wind.

But was he a real man, despite that one display of courage? He let people badger him into apologizing, when he should have stayed on the attack.

The only demonstrations of courage that I have seen from Republicans since Ronaldus Magnus have been by Republican women. Republican men, cowards, traitors, I spit in your faces. Come and do something about it.

I can't believe it! Boehner, Reid and Barry, the three most politically powerful people in the USA, possibly the world, and they are all limp-wristed weenies.
Geez! We need to elect a real woman!!

As much as I don’t support Trump’s political ambitions...by God his combative attitude just may get him elected.
Our current crop of limp-wristed “leaders” just don’t understand that the Nation is screaming for a real leader.

Wow. That is amazing. If only Republican men would give speeches at tea party rallies and go on Fox News and toy with running for President then they would be courageous too. You gave Joe Wilson as an example of courage then excoriated him for apologizing. Bachmann was there. Did she jump up and applaud or meekly sit on her hands? If you think Palin is a bold and courageous leader you'd better go back and look at some of her endorsements in 2010 again. Her picks were political, not ideological, and she picked some absolute hacks. Rush Limbaugh even said she's a Republican first and conservative second.

There are some fine conservative men out there fighting every day to get our country back. Just because they don't spend all day giving interviews and FReepers don't post their pictures on every thread doesn't diminish them.

You must have just been listening to the conversation I had with my brother. We were talking about this very thing. Trump is not particularly my favorite, but I appreciate his fieriness. Stranger things have happened (Obama being our president for one) and if Trump turns out to be the nominee, I’ll have to go Trump. Why can’t the professional politician males in the Republican party understand weak-kneed is not attractive. It’s not what people are craving. It’s not what we need. Our females are more combative than they are.
