Amid the threat of a looming government shutdown, House Speaker John Boehner is getting emotional again.

Per ABC News's Jon Karl, the Republican leader, who is known for his tears, was updating the House GOP caucus this morning on the ongoing budget stand-off when his emotions got the best of him. As he was thanking fellow Republicans for sticking with him amid the tense negotiations, the GOP lawmakers rose to give him a standing ovation, prompting Boehner to weep.

"Yes," a person at the private meeting tells ABC. "He cried, but only briefly."

“If only Republican men would give speeches at tea party rallies and go on Fox News and toy with running for President then they would be courageous too.”

Is it really possible that you think Governor Palin has done nothing more? I ask, because it beggars belief.

“You gave Joe Wilson as an example of courage then excoriated him for apologizing.”

There are a number of good dictionaries on line. I suggest you look up the word “excoriate.”

If the concept of a person following a courageous act with an act of cowardice is too subtle for you, well, I just don’t know what to tell you.

“Her picks were political, not ideological, and she picked some absolute hacks.”

More PDS.

“Rush Limbaugh even said she’s a Republican first and conservative second.”

I looked for that, and couldn’t find it. Citation please, or retraction.

“There are some fine conservative men out there fighting every day to get our country back.”

I think your real point here is to say bad things about Governor Palin, not to defend Republican men. Were it otherwise, I have to think you’d have named some examples.

Oh, you’re one of them. I won’t waste either your time or mine continuing this conversation. Oh, and I looked up excoriate just to make sure I hadn’t made a mistake while typing one handed standing up on a moving bus.

“Oh, you’re one of them.”

Yes, I am one of the people who can see beyond the end of their noses (PWCSBTEOTN). Cringe in terror.

I am also one of the people who can see through transparent subterfuges (PWCSTTS). Cringe in embarrassment.

Further, I am one of the people who can not only find words in, but understand the definitions given in, dictionaries intended for use by educated adults (PWCNOFWIBUTDGIDIFUBEA). Cringe in…well, some other unpleasant emotion.

Definition of EXCORIATE
transitive verb
1: to wear off the skin of : abrade
2: to censure scathingly

Examples of EXCORIATE
1. He was excoriated as a racist.
2. The candidates have publicly excoriated each other throughout the campaign.

Origin of EXCORIATE
Middle English, from Late Latin excoriatus, past participle of excoriare, from Latin ex- + corium skin, hide — more at cuirass

First Known Use: 15th century

Where did you find the definition, “to denounce?” In the Sesame Street See and Speak Dictionary for Struggling Preschoolers (SSSASDFSP)?
