But it’s self-evident that the United States would not face the impending prospect of bankruptcy and economic collapse if a) the compromises were more than political theatre that neglected to address the real problems (e.g., Social Security, Medicare, pension fund guarantees, etc.), and b) the parties had kept even the (inadequate) promises made in those compromises.
When promises can’t be trusted, compromises can’t be trusted either. A trustworthy politics of compromise will therefore not be possible in Washington until we have an operative congressional majority composed of representatives who have proven their capacity to be true to their promises, despite every maneuver used to intimidate them. But will the forces that dominate the present party system ever permit the election of such a majority? And were it to be elected, would they tolerate legislative results true to the mandate of the people?”

Well for all the people bash some fo the GOp members - run for office. They are now under physical threats in DC, ALL of TV supports O and the Dems - Fox is covering for him.
Enabled by the public who watches TV. So if you watch or pay cable or sat bills then you empower O and the Dems. I loathe RINOs as much as anyone but the elites control the masses through Tv and the media.
It’s true. You can NEVER hold “congress” to its word because the next “congress” can do anything it likes as long as it has the votes, including changing, watering down, or reneging on prior comittments.
Basically, when I hear any of them talk about XX billion over 10 years and crap, I shut down. All I care about is what they do THIS YEAR and NEXT year. That’s all they have control over.
We are THIRTEEN TRILLION DOLLARS IN DEBT!!!!
