In some areas, the only legal way to properly dispatch a rabies infected rodent is by LEO.

Or maybe some animal control agents. I don't know what the law is locally so I'd probably lie about it if I had to kill some critter to defend myself.

This incident could have been avoided with the right set of timely actions.
(1) Fully equipped SWAT team called to action.
(2) Hotline to Animal Suicide Prevention expert set up on scene.
(3) ATF Standoff team surrounding perimeter.
(4) Expert Animal negotiator called to the scene who could have talked the victim(squirrel) into giving up and being transported to the nearest animal hospital for evaluation and treatment.

As it stands, Squirrely is most likely damaged for life by being pepper sprayed and will require hundreds of hours of analysis, not to mention many sessions of anger management education before he can even hope to lead a normal life.
His attacker faces charges of assault with intent to kill or maim and a lengthy jail term if convicted.

If you think the above is over the top, look into what the Liberal nutjobs want to do to make it possible for animals to have lawyers and sue in a court of law. I wish it was a joke.

and you are out of your depth in a mud puddle.

Just using your kind of thinking to combat you. But it is unfair because you are fighting a battle of wits while unarmed. We know your kind. You place animals either equal to humans or above them. Therefor you are an idiot.

You’ve been taken to task and found wanting. All you’re proving is your too ignorant to know when you’ve been outclassed by the posters here.

Carry the water of the commies. I’m sure they’ll have a job for you in the politburo.

As a union guy, you should know that if you have a problem, take it up with the shop steward.

First of all, “bad apple” would imply blame. I am sorry that you are so ignorant that you can’t see that. Second, Do soldiers take an oath? Why do you want to treat them differently?

Third, your numbers are flat out wrong. For instance, the FBI list of only STATE Full Time law enforcement employees is over 1,000,000 by itself. Including over 700,000 sworn officers. The Feds employ about 188,000 in addition to these.

http://www2.fbi.gov/ucr/cius2009/data/table_74.html

These are FULL TIME numbers only. They do not count the sworn part time, auxiliary and reserve positions. EPIC FAILURE.

Your ignorance is on full display for all to see yet again.

There has never been a reported case of squirrel to human transmission, however they can get it. So it’s possible. And I suspect the officer isn’t well versed on which animals have been reported to have transmitted it to humans. ALL mammals are potential carriers. It would be unwise to take the risk.

The worst thing in the world is a low IQ cop that thinks he is smart. Guess you missed the post, that there has never been a case of rabies from a squirrel to a human.

As far as the animals go you may have eaten some that belonged to me at one time. Because I have raised a lot of them, bought and sold many more, they are black and make a moo noise weight anywhere from a thousand to fifteen hundred pounds.

You have no wit, and relying on words from the movies put you in a childish category.

Thanks for that. I looked and also found info suggesting there had not been any cases. I would still call it rare, but I would always err on the side of caution since mammals can all carry it, and having lived in a country where it was common when I was a child, I am maybe overly cautious.

Are you STILL cyberbullying people here newby?

Let me tell you about squirrels. Once you feed them, they don’t have any more fear of humans. I had one come right up to my screen door, I had to quickly shut it so he didn’t come into the apartment I was renting at the time. Apparently the previous owner had fed him or one of the nearby apt. owners. He climbed right up my screen and looked at me as I stood about a foot away from him, waiting for me to feed him.

I’ve had them come right up to me in parks and numerous other places. More than likely that squirrel had been fed and was scrounging for a meal. I guess living in your mothers basement you don’t get out enough to know that.

It’s a sad turn of events when society puts animal welfare above and beyond that of humankind.

It's a real strange trend I've noticed more and more. It puzzles me in the extreme to see it even on FR.

Wrong... here it is from the source...

Bureau of Labor and Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2010-11 Edition

http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos160.htm

Projections data from the National Employment Matrix

Police and detectives held about 883,600 jobs in the USA. About 79 percent were employed by local governments. State police agencies employed about 11 percent. Various Federal agencies employ the remaining 10 percent as police and detectives.

These numbers are broken down as follows:

First-line supervisors/managers of police and detectives 97,300

Detectives and criminal investigators 112,200

Fish and game wardens 8,300

Police and sheriff’s patrol officers 665,700

Transit and railroad police 4,300

The BLS numbers (just like the FBI numbers) only reference full time employees. The FBI keeps a record of all law enforcement employees in the nation. The FBI UCR numbers are the authority, the BLS numbers are not.

(Besides, the BLS numbers roughly track the FBI numbers, when you take into account only FULL TIME SWORN employees.) I already explained this to you. There are sworn part-time, auxiliary and reserve positions that are not included in that number.

Whether you like it or not, or want to take a tantrum and throw a fit or not, you are dead wrong. Well over a million. Deal with it.

Whatever squirrel boy. You’re boring and not worth spending anymore time.

Better luck next time. Now go milk your moo animals and keep your zipper up this time.

I had a squirrel wake up in the back pouch of my hunting jacket, clearly it was just knocked out and woke up really pissed off. Being cold I had a lot of clothes on mostly saving me but the little monster gave me a couple of good scars on my hand to remember him by.

And yes he got away.

To follow TMMT's logic (that word may not apply in this case) then if you look at the number of a specific race, say blacks, and determine that a large enough number of them cause more problems than any other race, then that makes the entire race a bad race of people.

The majority of blacks go about their business every day in a lawful manner, yet we get story after story after story at FR about criminal and other antisocial behavior in the black community.

Do you think FR paints a distorted view of blacks?

In you opinion, would it be fair to call posters of such articles 'black haters'?
