Oh, I don't think so, not totally anyway - considering this wasn't even supposed to be a budget the GOP had any say in whatsoever. Even keeping spending levels frozen would have been a significant improvement over what would have likely been significant spending increases otherwise...and this in this case, we even got a deduction, although minimal.

The political capital is best to be saved for their own budget coming up. That is the real test of wills, and the longer the argument raged on with this budget, the less likely there will be any success with the next budget. Unless you like winning for losing, of course.

I guess I look at it this way. If the Republicans hadn’t taken over the House in November, we wouldn’t have had any say in the budget at all. The Dems would’ve kept spending and NO cuts would’ve been made.

What’s the big idea bringing a modicum of commonsense to the debate? :D

Seriously, did people really think we were going to ram our agenda through a split congress and then a compliant Obama would sign it?

We are one election away from gaining the power we need to really reform our government.... IF we keep our wits about us and work towards massive victories in 2012.
