That's because under Wisconsin law, an official has to have served for a year before being subject to recall. That shields both Walker and all Republican lawmakers who replaced Democrats in last year's election. As Wisconsin senators serve four-year terms, only those who survived the Democratic sweep of 2006 or 2008 can be recalled.
It only gets worse for Wisconsin Democrats. Kloppenburg's campaign implied--though in her "victory" press conference she robotically denied--that she would provide the deciding vote on the court to overturn Walker's reforms. Her defeat means that those reforms will soon take effect unless they have an actual legal defect.
One of the most important reforms is that union dues will become voluntary. State and local government will no longer take money out of their employees' paychecks and hand it over to the unions. This is likely to be the last Wisconsin election in which the Democrats have the advantage of support from organizations with the power to raise campaign funds coercively.
The unions' show of muscle in this week's election was not unimpressive, even though it was insufficient to the task at hand. Starved of the nourishment of forcibly collected dues, they may look like a 98-pound weakling by 2012.

Yep, airline unions are like that. Even in right-to-work states membership is required; state RTW laws don’t apply to airline and railroad workers due to the Railway Labor Act.

Well, that friend is now retired, as are most of my former teacher friends He was an extraordinary teacher, too. Somewhere back in the 90s he was National Teacher of the Year. Probably never had a claim made on his insurance.

sounds to me like an awful lot of union voters do not want their dues being automatically deducted and they pulled the lever for Prosser
Many years ago when I was active in PTA (when it was still pretty conservative in our area), there was a meeting of all the schools in our local district on the question of “merit pay.” So I went as our school’s rep and voted FOR it. I was seated between 2 people I knew from nearby schools. One was an art teacher, the other - you guessed it - PE teacher married to another PE teacher.
After I raised my hand for the “Yes” vote, the PE teacher leaned across me to the art teacher, pointing his thumb in my direction (in other words, in my face) and asked her: “Did she vote Yes?” to which the other hrumphed “yes, she did.” The rest of the meeting wasn’t particularly comfortable.
In Illinois, the law requires that the results are posted at the polling places. Locally we use paper ballots with ovals filled in by the voter. They are scanned as the voter places them in the machine which also records the vote. At the end of the day the election officials run off two tapes of the results. One is posted on the window of the polling place and the other along with the ballots and scanner memory card are taken to the county election officials. They provide totals to the media. I suspect few if any ever check the posted results at the polling place.

oh, the AAE really IS what a teacher’s association should be. No question there.
The problem, as Mygirsom pointed out, is that in some place, WI in this case, the NEA has its own insurance racket that forces the schools to buy its insurance and the teachers themselves don’t pay (at least not directly).
Maybe as Walker’s law is enacted about the dues having to be paid directly vs. withheld, the teachers will look more to a reputable outfit like AAE. I sure hope they plan to do some serious recruiting in WI over the next couple of years.

You'll notice that the smarter groups of TEAParty folks use only HAND MADE SIGNS. That way you can ferret out the Democrats and Union geeks instantly!

Yes like making voter fraud a capital offense as it undermines the very system that runs the country. People lose faith in the voter system welcome to the 3rd world.
I view vote fraud as similar in immorality as to espionage or treason! For it undermines the most fundamental act of being a citizen in a free country.
