It's No Deal, It's a Sellout

John Boehner has just given away the Republican victory of 2010 at the bargaining table. Having failed to stand firm for just $61 billion in a budget of $3.7 trillion, how can we expect him to stand firm over the debt limit extension or the 2012 budget? We can't. The excellent budget proposals of Paul Ryan are no more than a pipe dream now. It violates our campaign promises to the American people. We promised $100 billion of cuts and we delivered $38 billion. Obamacare will not be defunded; welfare spending will not be cut nor work requirements imposed; the FCC will not be stopped from regulating talk radio; Medicaid will not be block granted and turned over to the states. We've accomplished nothing but we've learned a lesson: We need to to purify our party and purge it of the likes of Boehner. The Tea Party must take the lead and we must not let the RINOs win!

The agreement reached with Senate Democrats guarantees a Senate debate and vote on legislation that would repeal President Obama's government takeover of health care in its entirety. The House passed such legislation in January as part of the Pledge to America.

...

The agreement with Senate Democrats guarantees a Senate debate and vote on legislation that would end federal funding for Planned Parenthood.

The last thing Reid or Obama want is a vote in the senate on Obamacare (or Planned Parenthood). But now they are going to have to vote and this is huge. If this happens, and 4 of those 23 red-state Democrats up for reelection in 2012 vote against Obamacare, then the President will have to veto a bipartisan bill that lines up with the overall will of the American voters. What could be better than isolating Obama and Obamacare from the will of the people and Congress heading into 2012?

This is just a continuing resolution funding the Govt temporally

I believe that if our so-called CIC had not held our soldiers as pawns, there might well have been a different outcome. the troops had ALREADY been notified - before we even knew if there'd be a shutdown or not - that they were not getting paid for APril 9-15th!

This liliy-livered CIC - who'd probably faint dead away if someone put a combat rifle in his hands - promised to veto the bill the republicans had to make sure the military would still be paid. But the POS CIC was making sure they would get docked, even tho' they would be required to still 'show up for work' unlike the true 'nonessential' workers, who would NOT have to work AND would get unemployment!

Take our soldiers off the board - they never should've been there - and I surmise you'll see a different outcome.

We need to start this drum beating NOW.

LEAVE OUR SOLDIERS ALONE. They are NOT "nonessential"

Of all the disgusting things this POS CIC has done, this is the worst. (And may just be the only promise he's ever kept!)

It is all about numbers. Take the amount we need to save, divide by the number of years it will be acceptable and reasonable to eliminate the debt and that is what is needed each year. It has nothing to do with sypporting theTea Party or GOP position.

Real conservatives are pissed because:

But I don't see any of you pissed off that our so-called CIC held our soldiers as pawns?

And I don't see anyone bringing that out on the media.

Take our soldiers off that chess board and you'll see a different story.

Why is NO ONE furious at what he did to our soldiers and how he used them? (see my post #36)

This deal isn’t important as important as Paul Ryan budget and the debt ceiling is. Actually, I’m surprised they held their ground for $38B.

Boehner has blown his credibility and the Democrats know it. He'll fold on the debt ceiling, guarantee it.

The $100B in spending cuts was a test, Boehner blew it big time.

When Obama showed his true colors was when the Republicans proposed a measure that would fund the military regardless of the outcome of the debate about budget cuts. And Obama said he would VETO any such legislation! Even for a far-Left liberal or socialist I found this to be incredible! If the Republicans don’t make that an issue in 2012, they’re crazy. Who could imagine a Commander-in-Chief saying he would defund our armed forces unless he got his way on the debate about budget cuts??!! Did you know about that?

I can't understand it either, especially after the Republicans howled to the heavens that Ubama and the Democrats had sunk so low in their zeal to preserve abortion money that they were actually threatening to stop paychecks for our fighting men and women....

...Oh wait.. The friggin' Republican cowards barely made a whimper and utterly failed to take advantage of an issue that was handed to them on a golden platter.

Republicans = FAIL

Yes I knew about obama’s promise to veto any bill that would keep our military from been considered “nonessential” and not getting paid.

I didn't use the word ‘veto’ but certainly spelled it all out.

Why is no one screaming about this - and we'd better NOT forget it come election time. We need to have some good ads on it. I hope the Tea Party will use it.

At least if any of the military families, friends and vets were obama fans, this should end it.

Good summary! Margaret Thatcher once said, “Socialism always fails because eventually it runs out of other people’s money.” Well, that’s where we are! The B.S. will no longer pay our huge debts and eventually just printing money (out-of-control inflation) will be a cure worse than the disease!

Chucky Shooomah likened the Tea Party to nothing but a flea on the tail of a dog - the tail being the Republican Party - and the dog being the gov’t

That's obviously not how the Crybaby sees the Tea Party. He doesn't think they are as important as a flea and he basically just ignores them.

That’s my greatest fear too. I’ve never seen such a party that can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory! I think that the Tea Party is the best hope for holding their feet to the fire and reminding them that they work for US and they had better start listening!

I don’t understand your comments. It strikes me that you’re saying that NOTHING - $38 billion or $61 billion - matters. Get real! That’s just a version of political nihilism!

do we know that - that they didn't say anything about it - or the media made sure anything said on that didn't get air time?

Well, the only cut was in the size of the increase. Boehner needs to be honest with the people about what he “got.” Which adds up to less than nothing against the debt. Inside the Beltway, this is actually an “achievement,” a “big win.” I don’t have anything against Boehner but let’s face it, he’s not really part of the solution is he?
