"People who make their wishes known in advance can avoid situations like Quinlan's, and that of another woman Terri Schiavo who suffered a cardiac arrest, that led to a vegetative state lasting 15 years before her mechanical life support system was removed."That's a lie about Terri Schiavo's condition and about the "mechanical life support." The woman was awake and aware. She was tortured to death by starvation and dehydration.
Sharon Sullivan, you're a liar and propagandist for the Death Cult.
To: TheOldLady; BykrBayb
They consistently lie about Terri. There are still people who have no idea that she only had a feeding tube.

"That's a leftist term"
They are educated and all educated people are leftist.
"Do you believe that you have the right to decide who is deserving of life?"
Do you believe that you have the right to force someone to lay in their own urine atop a plastic sheet, while hooked up to the machine? Do you believe your neolithic God has the right to dictate that?
Welcome to the warehouse, oldtimer.
To: Ben Ficklin
Answer the question. Do you believe that you have the right to decide who is deserving of life?

That's not the question.
The question is whether I have the right to make my decisions, or should you and BykrBayb make my decisions or decide who I can consult in making my decisions.
To: Ben Ficklin
That IS the question. And you are dancing. Again, do you believe that you have the right to decide who is deserving of life?

Here's the problem.
Everyday, across the nation and the world, uncountable people are making decisions that you don't like, and you want to change that.
You are not satisfied with making decisions only about yourself.
To: Ben Ficklin; BykrBayb
I hate to tell you this, but with a name like
BykrBayb Ben Ficklin, you are going to have a hard time convincing anyone that you
are a qualified bioethicist aren't a mouth breathing half wit. Just sayin.

Nope. And I’ve been on here almost as long as you. Trying rephrase the debate won’t work. The question is do you believe that you have the right to decide who is deserving of life? Why are you having a hard time answering?

Does it bother you that, as the article title points out, some people can get “Free Advance Care Planning”?
To: Ben Ficklin
Lying bothers me. They wrap euthanasia in pretty paper.
And still you dance. The question is do you believe that you have the right to decide who is deserving of life?

Go ahead and admit it. It doesn't have anything to do with me.
It bothers you that many are making decisions without listening to you. They are being lied to and making decisions without the benefit of your "truth"
To: Ben Ficklin
Again, do you believe that you have the right to decide who is deserving of life?

Its you, not me, who wants to decide.
To: Ben Ficklin
Then why not answer the question? The question is do you believe that you have the right to decide who is deserving of life? Why are you having a hard time answering? It’s a “yes” or “no” answer.

DJ MacWow - "Bioethicist? That's a leftist term. In actuality one either believes that people have the right to live or they don't."Ben Ficklin - They are educated and all educated people are leftist.
You don't sound particularly educated and you seem to be a leftist. Perhaps you are an educated ignoramus.

He certainly isn’t a conservative. Not when he makes those kinds of statements.

His statement sounds a lot like the garbage spewed by both John Kerry and Stephen King about our military.
He seemed to have gone silent. I bet he's frustrated that we don't appreciate his efforts to enlighten us poor foolish peasants.
