Here’s what it really boils down to: the Tea Party has a strong, simple and honest message that resonates with the American public: the Government spends to much, and finances too much of that spending through borrowing. It’s killing our country and needs to stop. Now.
Progressives don’t have an honest message. They talk in platitudes about things like change and hope ... but wait until AFTER they win elections on those things to let the public knows what it really means. Because if they were to tell the public BEFORE elections, they’d never win. And then they wonder why they get their a**es kicked the next time around.
A corollary to that is that the public, by and large is always going to want STUFF. Until they know how much its going to cost them. Hey, bacon-wrapped filet mignon three times a week? Great - bring it on! What, it’s going to cost me $80? No way! Progressives have a proven track record of overpromising stuff, but then waiting until after elections (because they’d never win elections beforehand ...) to tell people that they’ll actually have to PAY for it (in some way or another).
It's a message that's hard to argue with so they attack the messengers.

The nedia really downplays the fact that TEA is an acronym for Taxed Enough Already; it is a name that in and of itself would automatically rally Amercians to support it.
To stress this, people should type it out as “TEA Party”; it makes it harder to dismiss them as a racist anti-government fringe.
