A group of African students whose college tuitions are being paid by the U.S. government yesterday received a boost of additional funds to continue their educations – and an executive from the private contractor coordinating the program just happens to be the wife of a senior Obama administration official...the U.S. Agency for International Development under the current initiative has already spent nearly $2.1 million to send 16 students from the southeast African nation of Malawi to colleges in their homeland as well as in the U.S. and Kenya...

The U.S. institution of higher learning to which the document refers is Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Wis.,...

"For Kenyan [college] participants, the U.S. government pays the graduate program tuition of $3,261 per semester and room and board of approximately $1,575 per semester," the document continues. Wonder how many American kids, the children of taxpayers, would like to get in on this gravy train. We can no longer afford to fed, clothe, educate and provide health care for the entire world.

“...and an executive from the private contractor coordinating the program just happens to be the wife of a senior Obama administration official.”

Another fatcat crony getting paid to give away taxpayers’ money. To non-citizens no less. While jerks like me scrape to pay for my kids’ education.

More than likely, they will overstay their student visas and then apply to change their status, i.e., get a green card, to remain in the US.

That's just great. We're struggling to help our youngest with a community college and paid enough in taxes this year to send her to a university. Meanwhile this is going on....

This absolutely makes me cry! I just don’t know what I am going to do come this September (actually earlier) having 2 boys in college. I can’t stand the fact that our taxpayer money is paying for foreign education and I can’t figure out how to pay for my own kids tuition/board/books!

I’m so angry! I wish I would stop hearing about this stuff, it justs makes it worse! :(

Congress needs to hear from ALL of us. They control the purse strings & need to know that we are paying attention.

Obama is taking care of his black people all over the world.. It's not enough for him to do it only in this country. He is doing stuff like this at warp speed. So fast that our Congress can't even keep track of this on their own.

These foreign students are making out like bandits. Read the article to see what else they get besides their tution!!! It's outrageous!!

Look at the lame excuse they are using to keep this program going!! I'm sure that we can find some conservative pilots who would be happy to fly their asses back home!!

I think the only way to make this argument to Congress would be to point out how many more abortion clinics they could afford to fund if this program was cancelled.

I wonder how much the taxpayer pays to educate illegal aliens each year? That would be the first thing to cut if our government wasn’t full of corrupt scumbags.

Download this pdf file and read through it. Net cost is calculated for the federal government and individual states.

It is based on the very old number of 13 million illegal aliens. That number currently is ~ 40 million

It will never change if they think we don't notice. 2012 is coming up & we need to remind them!!

"...the wife of a senior Obama administration official..."

...Jenkins is the wife of Robert Jenkins, director of the USAID Office of Transition Initiatives within the agency's Bureau for Democracy, Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance...

Robert Jenkins started with OTI more than a decade ago and became Deputy Director in 2004. It's not like President Obama swooped in and appointed him.

George W. Bush quadrupled our aid to Africa. Money has been going to Malawi from the US for 50 years. The aid to Malawi via USAID isn't an initiative of President Obama--the news here is that they gave a sole-source allocation to bridge aid for ongoing education.

One reason given for such aid is that the "security of the American people depends on global stability and prosperity." If we disagree with that premise, then let's try to change the aid, but the headline and lede are rather misleading (no pun intended).
