How Liberalism Will Kill Google and Facebook
FrontPageMag.com ^ | April 11, 2011 | Ben Shapiro

Posted on 04/11/2011 9:32:29 AM PDT by UltraConservative

On April 5, President Obama kicked off his newly-minted presidential campaign by announcing that he would be conducting a “Facebook town hall” event streaming live via the website and via the White House website on April 20. Just to ensure that the Facebook audience recognizes that this isn’t merely another media appearance but an endorsement of Obama by the Facebook executives, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg quizzed Obama before an audience of over 1,000 Facebook employees and other internet mavens. The recorded result will be chopped up and distributed via Facebook and the White House website over the coming months. ...

Obama isn’t the first politician to use Facebook as a fundraising platform. But he is the first politician to be granted the privileged insider status of visiting HQ to do so. Facebook has been one of Obama’s most important supporters over the past several years. And Facebook is hardly the only Silicon Valley organization backing Obama. Apple and Google have also become vocal supporters of the administration. ...

On the surface, this makes little sense. Obama’s policies have targeted businesses with remorseless cruelty, setting them up as villains in the class conflict Obama wishes to precipitate. Facebook, Apple, and Google are three of the most successful businesses of the 21st century. Yet all three seem to be mobilizing in favor of the Obama Administration.

You may have walked a trail that is about to become major highway.

I’ve never signed up for Facebook and never will. I have been tempted a time or two, but the idea of being caught in that web keeps me from doing it.

Obamacare will try to create a “medical database” that will be far worse than Facebook. It will probably use the expertise of the FB folks to set up the database.

Come on Ben. You are smarted than this. What does Facebook, Google and Apple all have in common? CONTROL OF INFORMATION & DELIVERY OF THAT INFORMATION. “Control the information you control the people.”

They want to be the ones delivering the “word” of Liberalism. The MSM is almost dead. One day in the near future, everyone will be walking around, sitting on the bus or subway using an IPad type of device to get their news.

Google, Apple, Facebook is vying to become the new MSM. We shouldn’t complain though. With no “Fairness Doctrine”, (which I do not support) Liberals can do whatever they want with these companies and we either get into the game or not.

Look at what Palin did on Facebook. Heck, Drudge gets information by aggregating from Google. We are there. We just have to exploit it the way the Libs do.

The nice thing is the fact that Google asks why you’re leaving.

WRONG

FB was a major tool in the election of Obama and it demonstrated just how powerful social media is. If conservatives are going to avoid the platform rather then master it then they deserve to go the way of the Edsel and Model T.

Anyone care to take a guess why Sarah Palin has manged to stay relevant? Social media, that’s why.

I may be just one citizen, but I have never signed up for Facebook, aka Fakebook, and never will. I value my privacy and deem Fakebook, and the like as 1) an infringement on privacy, the same as inviting strangers into your home and personal life, and 2) a useless toy that cannot replace face-to-face contact or a phone call/hand written letter/e-mail to friends, family, etc....

I never have and never will use google for anything.

Also similar to Fakebook is Linkedin.com, a social network for professionals.

Apple might want to think about this: people on entitlements can't afford Macs.

They can when those entitlements INCLUDE Macs. BTW I use Facebook and use it a lot.

Google’s “Panda” update was a direct attack on free enterprise designed to destroy millions of small businesses engaged in affiliate marketing. Panda changed the order of how webpages were returned in search requests. Quite simply, small businesses were beating big players because individual marketers were beating the big boys with efficient marketing skills and services.

It will be hard to prove that obuma ordered it because I don’t think he has the G2 to even surf the net, but he could certainly be the figurehead who ordered it. The collusion between Google and the propaganda press to destroy free markets is apparent to me in the Google Chrome voting in the months before Panda was unleashed. The “Panda” scheme transferred more than $1 billion in adsense payouts from small businesses to big players, including Google and its friends.

The data shows it. Google needs to be indicted for conspiracy and its CEO and board thrown in prison. I won’t say what I want to happen to obuma. Then Google must be broken up into dozens of smaller pieces independent of each other.

I probably go to Google ten times a day. Great help in settling arguments, finding crossword clues, old movie clips, just about anything. I am getting a bit sick of Facebook. Every time someone I don’t know answers someone on my friends list, my BlackBerry beeps. Not bad for a 68-year old geezer.

I’m a Facebook user and have a Mac. It’s the technology of today. Our young Conservatives need to get more involved in the technology and use it to their advantage.

Rush, Hannity & Company are only a small percentage of the media. The quicker we can bury the MSM and move over to the new technologies the better.

I'm on Facebook myself, mainly to keep in contact with fellow business people, friends and high school classmates. There is one site I'm also on, Gather (www.gather.com), that seems more liberal to me but when you post, you get points you can redeem for Paypal money, Amazon and other stuff. Money was tight last year and still is, so I was only able to go Christmas shopping using the points I achieved through freelance liberal baiting.

Yeah, maybe there are times one has to cut bait but we need to be able to use this stuff and turn the tables on the libs.

True. Those “beeps” can become annoying especially if they are from an unknown, i.e. similar to the telemarketing 800 calls on the phone LOL.

When Facebook first became all the rage I sat back and observed friends who used it. At first they loved it, then as “friending” became part of the process it became, like that episode of South Park, how many “friends” one had, i.e. a popularity contest, or friends of friends of friends wanting to friend a friend of a friend.

Granted for many it is a useful social tool, providing they know how to control and filter it.

Some of my friends call me a hermit because I won’t set up a Facebook page or they say I need to get with the times. But in reality the rewards of my using Facebook do not off set the risk, aka diminished privacy.

As for google, one tool they have is if one wants to find the longitude and latitude for an address, piece of property or location. It is much easier than say Yahoo. My father is a civil engineer and uses google for that purpose. Plus google has aerial photos of the property in question.

You only lose privacy on Facebook if you give it away. You won’t find anything out on my Facebook account I don’t want you to, because nothing I’m not completely comfortable with being public is on there.

And FB is plenty useful. No it can’t replace other forms of contact, it ADDS another. It’s a quick way to keep in touch with people that have spread around in between those phone calls, letters and visits. And the Egyptian revolution dug it.

Google is a good search engine. Stay away from their toolbar, but stay away from EVERYBODY’S toolbar.

The case for avoiding facebook and google, exhibit A.

For search engines, there is also ask.com (is using bing and dealing with Microsoft really any better than dealing with google?) - any others? And the list of social networking sites is enormous. Freedom Works has one now, I think, called Freedom Connector.
