A leading Hispanic voting-rights group has filed a redistricting plan for Texas that would create nine Hispanic-majority congressional districts in the states new 36-seat map. And since each district would give Democratic candidates a decided advantage, the result would most likely increase the number of House Democrats from Texas to 12 up from 9.
The ambitious proposal would be a dramatic departure from the makeup of the current 32-seat delegation, which has seven Hispanic-majority seats but only four Hispanic Democrats. Texas is adding four seats due to reapportionment.

Good news: White liberals who support Mexican fascists will lose their seats for their treason.
Remember folks, it’s only racist if White people do it!
Won’t happen.
One area where the Republicans generally are actually smart is in redistricting.
Here’s how it works - the GOP knows that there have to be a few minority-majority districts, otherwise there will be no end to lawsuits under the Voting Rights Act and related legislation. Other states have already lost those sorts of lawsuits, so the precedent would go against Texas if they just decide to make “normal” districts like we’d all want to see.
So, what can the GOP do? They can stuff as many minorities into a handful of districts as they can, creating those wellknown snake-like districts that the Dems win by 85+% every election.
The upside to this is that, in doing so, a larger number of districts are created which the GOP can more easily win with ~55% each election.
Ironically, minority-majority districts actually end up helping the GOP out in the long run. Create 4-5 hardcore Dem districts, but you get 15-20 easy-to-win districts for the GOP.
That’s going to be what happens - this Hispanic plan will be quietly tossed in the wastecan.
Hispanics are 37% of the population. Whites are 46% of the population. Neither are majorities, but neither are really minorities either.
So, when do we stop creating “majority-minority” districts for “minorities” that have larger populations?
Not for long, Chuckie. Not for long.
The invasion takes time, but it will end with Mexico being in charge of Texas again.
Bloviate all ya want about how little games can be played to stop that, but....game over.
Only a matter of time now.
That’s what happened the last time Texas redistricted. Made the blue districts even bluer, leaving the rest of the districts to the sane, intelligent candidates. How else could the continued election of so-called representatives Eddie Berneice Johnson and Sheila Jackson Lee be explained?
Neither is good news.
And the very reason the illegals swam the river will be just as nonexistant as it currently is in me-he-co.
Border, language, culture.
The future crap population of Texas will have their grubby hands stuck out for fed money and wondering where the great Texas went to. They will have not a single clue that they, the illegals, eradicated it with their "culture."
Of course, if they are getting their cheque del gobierno and Parkland-o hospital gets the Dallas property taxes, well, they are all happy-happy.
.
Sounds like racism to me.
Racism is not at all surprising from the group that gave us the vile La Raza outfit.
No, since when do elections matter-the Democrats lost, they do not get to expand (especially with racist districts like this)..rather than by promotion of ideas!
How about NO gerrymandered districts ?
Program a computer to create districts that have an equal number of citizens (+/- 1%), that had the smallest possible boundary length, and were contiguous.
Having lived in a racially gerrymandered district, this type of BS disenfranchises citizens. Writing my congresscritter is a total waste of time. She’s a racist communist, so we don’t have much in common.
Just because some group came up with a plan doesn’t mean the Republicans will adopt it. They will gerrymander the districts just like the democrats do when they hold both houses.
Why are Hispanics minorities when they are considered white?
Currently, 3 of the 7 “hispanic districts” elected republicans.
Yep. Racism is as racism does.
Ambitious: yes.
Likely to happen? No.
