And public housing was supposed to be the "fix" for dangerous, depressing slums.
And the Department of Energy was supposed to be the "fix" for America's dependence on foreign sources of energy.
And Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac were supposed to be the "fix" for a lack of affordable home ownership.

The left is all about "government by unintended consequences." Or, at least, consequences that contain "plausible denyability."
