“Someone(s) have buried these bodies and no one saw a thing?”

The bodies weren’t really buried; they were in thickets of marshy, swampy tangling trees. When the police were searching recently, they’d be a few feet away from the rest of the team and be entirely obscured to them. It’s a barrier island - the only houses on it are near where it happened, and not even many of those, but it’s not really on the way to or from anywhere. It’s especially abandoned at night, and even more so when it’s too cold for the beach.

What’s more disturbing is that there were at least ten people missing all this time, and no investigation went anywhere until the girl who is still missing called 911 but then disappeared before the police arrived. It was in looking for her that they found the first of the others.
