WASHINGTON - D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray and members of the D.C. Council were arrested Monday during a protest over the federal budget agreement.

D.C. Council Chair Kwame Brown, along with councilmembers Muriel Boswer (D - Ward 4), Tommy Wells (D - Ward 6) and Michael Brown have been arrested by U.S. Capitol Police.

The Mayor later announced on his official Twitter account that he was being processed at the Southwest Capitol Hill Police facility and would be released later that night.

City officials say Washington was used as a pawn last week's budget bargaining, with new restrictions part of the price of a deal. Under the budget agreement reached Friday, the details of which are still uncertain, the city will likely be unable to spend city dollars on abortions for low income women. It may also be banned from spending city money on needle exchange programs believed vital to curbing the spread of HIV in the city, where the disease is considered an epidemic. Also back, a school voucher program favored by Republicans.

Whoa. Now THERE's a low! As they say, whenever you think someone has sunk to the lowest, they manage to find a trap door...

If you want to see what a cesspool D.C. is, look at the things this mayor is protesting FOR:

- taxpayer funded abortions
- needles for addicts
- the enforced attendance of children at CRAP public schools with no opportunity to get out

D.C. is OWNED by criminals, thugs and unions (excuse my redundancy).

Well, with the rest of this new, “clean” administration going to jail for being crooks, it is logical that their leader join them.

After 30+ years of the supreme crook Mayor Marion “ Mayor for Life” Barry (He should have gotten life), and his Capital Crook Cronynism, we thought it couldn’t get worst, but D.C. Democrats being DC Democrats, it did. Fenty the Feckless and now Gray the Godfather.

Can’t wait till next week.

We’re gonna need more jails.

Fenty at least made an effort (as I understand it) to do something about the abysmal state of the schools. But the unions and pols — fearing their share of the take was in jeopardy — got rid of him.

Fenty started off sounding tought but wimped out in the end. Lost Michele Rhee, who was sincerely trying to clean up the corrupted and decadent DC school system and teachers union.

You want to know how bad off D.C. is? Couple o’ years ago, my wife and I were there, and you go to Union Station and you’d think it was a refugee camp. The most memorable panhandler we ran into was a disheveled lady who told us she couldn’t take less than $20. Anything less than that wasn’t worth it.

The arrest is status quo for a DC mayor hoping for re-election.

Protest and arrest, what a symbolic and effective gesture. I’m sure this will make a huge difference.

You’re not a real D.C. mayor until you’ve been arrested a few times.
