The leaders of foreign countries realize Americans are sick. The excessive concern exhibited by Americans about animals, plants and minerals is a symptom of the sickness. For example, concern over the smelt allowing the destruction with the resulting transfer of land in the San Joaquin valley to new owners at bargain prices.
