Gas Prices Predicted To Be Up 40 Percent This Summer Compared To Last Year
My Fox DC ^

WASHINGTON - Gas prices are going up. And up. And up. And now, the Energy Department predicts the cost of gasoline this summer will be 40 percent more than last year.

In the District of Columbia, the average price of regular unleaded jumped four cents a gallon between Monday and Tuesday.

"I think it's all kind of a farce," says driver Kathryn Abate. "Because the oil prices have gone up a little, but not really to the extent that gas prices have. So it's just like a 'predicting' thing which I think is kind of unfair to consumers."

The experts blame rising gas prices on unrest in the Middle East and a fear factor that goes with it.

Thankfully I don’t travel much, My hungry Ford Explorer V8 all wheel drive requires a lot of “food”.

I just saved enough money to have his transmission rebuilt (since it’s been above 30 here on Long Island, it hasn’t hesitated).

I plan on keeping him for as long as possible. He ROCKS on ice and snow!!!

I forgot another contributing factor that has raised average gasoline prices relative to oil prices since 2008.

Several states have added sales tax to gasoline sales that used to only tax by the gallon.

The Obama Agenda Plays Out.

I hope Obama IS fired but I really don’t support “The Donald” as I do not trust his populist demeanor. However in a race between the two, I’d vote for him.

Perhaps we should start making bumper stickers:

“Gas Prices: Under Bush: $2.50
Under Obama: $4.00 and Climbing...
Breaking your hope and stealing your change.”

The Obama administration wants to purposely have the gasoline prices raised, the cost of living go up, etc. because campaigning is going to start. And then...when all He** breaks in the country Obama will do something so that he can look like the "savior" they say he is so he gets re-elected by the fools who believed in him the first time around. The Obama string pullers, Dems, and Libs in power create problems just so they can solve them later and then claim they have rescued us. It's political psychology and that's their plan.

If that’s as “high” as it goes, I’ll consider that a “win”.

When gas prices in 2008 were on their way to $4 per gallon, liberals in Congress were haranguing Bush to do something and even calling for nationalization of oil companies. Now there is a strange silence. Perhaps Democrats realize that Dear Leader and his policies are to blame and don't want to broach the subject.

Retail prices for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline will average $3.86 nationally from April through September, up from $2.76 for the comparable period last year, said the Energy Information Administration, the statistics arm of the Energy Department.

HA!

It wasn't anywhere near $2.76 in San DIego, it was more like $3.10:

$3.10 + 40% = $4.39.

Today it's $4.18 average vs. national average of $3.78.

The national average will be 8 cents higher than current?

I think they're lowballing.

I suppose trashing the dollar to the point of it being worth the same as a pine cone has nothing to do with it.

UN: Palestinians are ready for statehood

newzjunkey to Uncle Miltie
During the period 9/29/00 to 2/28/11, 85% of deaths have been at the hands of the IDF.
6,407 Palestinians killed by the IDF.

1,141 Israelis and foreign citizens by Palestinians.

Israel continues to block imports and exports from Gaza by air and sea and still has over 120 illegal “settlements” in occupied territories.

“In 2008...what was the price of oil compared to the price of gas?

July 2008 crude oil was $137.11 and gas prices were about this high. http://dow-futures.net/historical-crude-oil-prices-history-2008/

So oil is now just a little over $100...and gas prices are this high?

Where’s all the screaming and yelling today about the speculators or are we just supposed to wave our hands and call it inflation? Where is all this profit taking and looting going?”

That was pre- QE 27.

I remember how we were all supposed to harangue our lawmakers over the July 4th weekend in 2008 and the media dutifully reported us doing so. POS propagandists have no soul.

$4.379 for diesel today at the nearest station on my part of the Rockies. IIRC, the price tends to bump quite a bit higher around Memorial Day weekend.

What? You mean you haven’t taken the president’s advice and traded in your 8 mpg fuel hog for something more efficient?

How much corn CAN you fit in the back of a Chevy Volt, anyway?

;-)
