There is certainly a concerted effort to effectively take away the right to own arms by requiring government registration of every transfer (the ill-named "gun show loophole"). If the government know what you've got and can take it at any time, you don't really own it, and half the 2nd Amendment is fully infringed.
I saw the listing for that tripe last evening and it reminded me to remove HBO from my preferences this AM. I will find something else to spend my money upon then a company that promotes this blather and Maher.
