The Greediest Generation

Liberals of the Baby Boomer generation are fond of calling conservatives hypocrites. If a conservative sets a moral line with regard to sexual behavior, then falls short, Baby Boomer liberals point and shout and laugh with glee. If a conservative stands up against government spending, then has a home loan backed by Fannie Mae, Baby Boomer liberals suggest that the nefarious conservative doesn’t mean what he says. If a conservative says that marriage should be reserved for a man and a woman, then gets divorced, Baby Boomer liberals shout that the conservative no longer has the right to argue for traditional matrimony.

When it comes to hypocrisy, however, it is Baby Boomer liberals who take the cake. ...

True! We forget that they gave us 4 terms of FDR and then reelected Truman.

I think my generation was a disaster for this country.

As FReeper Night Hides Not points out, the Boomers were not yet of age when the Leftist crap started.

When Bill Clinton, Hillary Rodham, and other Leftists formed the SDS and signed the Sharon Statement, I was 14.

I wasn't yet old enough to buy a drink when Timothy Leary went public with "tune in, turn on, drop out", and when Jim Morrison and the Doors released Strange Days.

I still couldn't vote when Jimi Hendrix asked, "Are You Experienced?" and covered "All Along the Watchtower".

The Silent Generation, the Depression and War Babies, did all that stuff. Paul Kantner and Grace Slick -- both War Babies. Ditto Mario Savio, the knucklewalking loudmouth Communist who started the "[Communist] Free Speech Movement" at UC Berkeley in 1962.

The people who rioted in Chicago in 1968? Silent Generation/War Babies. And Communists. Most of them weren't Boomers -- Boomers were the ones who got left holding the bag on all that stuff. The leaders were all older.

The “American Experiment” came to an abrupt end when all three Presidential hopefuls endorsed the income tax in 1912.

No, earlier. Lincoln crushed the States and destroyed any idea of States' rights and the People as sovereign. Now the Plutocracy is sovereign, joined within the last two generations by the New Class, and Government is their towel-boy, henchman, and knucklecrusher.

Remember, Lincoln introduced an income tax and made people pay it -- and kept the money -- without a scintilla of law on his side, as a political-strongman act. He was a dictator, and he achieved his dictatorship by setting the People at each others' throats.

I am sick of the blanket condemnation of the so-called Boomers, especially by some snot-nosed kid.

I am not a Boomer.

Good point. The three legs of the stool, so to speak: MC, SS, Income Tax.

I understand what you are saying, but mainly time and some USSC decisions halted many of Lincolns “advancements”. After reconstruction, there was some semblance of self-government still left, then came “the Progressives” and Amendments to the Constitution that “sealed the deal”.
