The White House is circulating a piece of draft legislation that would give the Department of Homeland Security oversight over cybersecurity at civilian agencies, according to a report from FedNewsRadio. The proposed legislation combines the comprehensive cybersecurity bill introduced last year by the Senate Homeland Security Committee with the administration's memo from July 2010 to expand DHS's responsibilities over non-military networks, according to the report. Like the Homeland Security bill sponsored by Sens. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.), Susan Collins (R-Maine)

The list, ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
I have a word for this:
NO.
All you networks are belong to us!.......................
Like hell is the DHS going to get their dirty paws on any of the networks I admin without an absolutely valid air-tight warrant signed a local Judge.
If he wins in 2012, count on it!
I’m waiting for the bill that puts DHS out of business.
This makes sense.
As DHS’s number 1 target is returning veterans and domestic rightwingers.
HA!
This administration cannot get a second term. They must not get a second term! They will make this nation indistinguishable from North Korea. I’m not exaggerating either. Absolutely everything on their agenda is straight from commie hell. Not a single dictate of goodness or mercy to be found anywhere.
I ask this question again and again and again:
What are you all going to do if this bastard gets a second term?
Susan Collins (R-Maine)
Nuff said.
Isn’t this just peachy...
Two words: Hell No.
Zero can’t control the Internet like he does the lamestream media. Of course the liberals and RINOs want to weasel their way into controlling private networks.
FU BHO.
The question is will we need to be stripped searched to buy a computer ....they are doing such a ‘steller’job with their current tasks why not give them authority over the net????
Heil, Big Brother!
Janet will be our sysadmin.
Bad title. It’s talking about government civilian (as in non-military) networks.
That is how I see it.
LLS
“freak out? Move? Cry? What will you do? What kind of answers do you get?”
I plan to do the unspeakable to the enemy. There is nothing else to live for.
It’s a step in the process.
Fed:”Boeing, Lockheed and Motorola, we are enacting oversight of your networks due to a national security issue”.
(because we have politicians and bureaucrats who need to sell trade secrets to the Chicoms for plush retirement benefits)
The first sentence tells me this country is over and done with. The WH is floating legislation? I though legislation was supposed to originate in the house. Oh, wait! It IS supposed to. But that old constitution be damned!
DHS: “TO THE CLOUD!!!!”
Does anyone think the stupid party is going to get off their knees long enough NOT to sign this?
No. For years, the government has been trying to get the management of the security of its networks in order. Right now there are too many agencies doing their own thing, and it endangers the security of the overall network. Somebody has to do it, I'm jut not sure DHS is the right agency.
How I wish I could have been wrong.
Where have you been for the last century or so?
“If he wins in 2012, count on it!”
If he doesn’t win in 2012, count on it! The direction this country is marching in is beyond the occupant of the White House. Our only to willing bureaucracy and outside influences will push for total control of the populace. I’m a proud citizen of the North American Union.
“What are you all going to do if this bastard gets a second term?”
We’re already doing it - taking control of the states. The last election saw more than 700 patriots elected to state legislatures, resulting in conservative control of 26 states. Washington is not the only way to project power.
That needs to continue in the 2012 elections.
Patriots also need to get in gear and elect constitutional sheriffs in their counties. Surrounding liberal cities with patriot sheriffs and armed 2,000 man deputy auxiliary battalions for “emergencies” will go a long way in getting Marxist cities under control.
There’s more than one way to skin a fascist cat.
“I plan to do the unspeakable to the enemy. There is nothing else to live for.”
“To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.”
You're right, coldone.
Oh, believe me, I know. I’ve been pissed about this practically my whole life. Back when I was in high school and they taught that legislation originated in the house I was wondering “Why the heck is the president coming up with budgets and laws?”
The Patriot Act, a gift that keeps on giving. Thanks, George.

Don’t confuse them with facts, they’ll be all riled up over this for hours.
I guess we would have to fall back to dial-up, UUCP, usenet news, etc.... with encryption. Welcome back to the 1980’s! (Glad I kept my old modems!)
LOL. I hope you're not waiting for the republicans to propose it. If you recall, the brownshirts were created by Bush. The republicans love having our own version of the KGB as much as the democrats do.
I hope the Tea Party is able to change some of that.
