PALM BEACH, Florida (AP) — Donald Trump says he has put off agreeing to an extension of his “Celebrity Apprentice” reality show while he weighs a presidential bid.

The real estate mogul and potential Republican contender says he told NBC on Friday he could not commit to a three-year contract extension for the series until he decides whether he’s running.

Trump spoke at an event at his Mar-a-Lago estate on Palm Beach. He offered familiar messages questioning President Barack Obama’s birthplace.

He also said the U.S. should be entitled to Iraqi oil and praised the ultraconservative tea party.

Trump says he’s encouraged by polls showing him with a strong following and says he’ll make an announcement on his campaign plans before June.

Why is the Washington Times referring to the Tea Party as “ultraconservative?”

Because they think it sounds good and may attract more readers?

They don't think it will offend their target audience? The term "ultraconservative" generally implies a negative. I thought the Washington Times was a more conservative newspaper than the Post, or do I have them reversed???

So they trash the Tea Party? Is that a good business model?

Did you not get the memo?

Conservatives are supposed to bash our own. Then apologize for being conservative.

Not that it has ever won an election. Quite the contrary.

But that’s what happens. Conservatives bash our own, then apologize.

Thus: The Tea Party! :)

I don’t know. Are they getting increased readership because of it?

Well, I don't have the numbers for them specifically but newspapers are dying in general, liberal publications are dying more quickly than conservative publications, so logic would tell us that in this one little sentence they are heading in the wrong direction. It doesn't matter much more than that but the word caught my eye and I wondered about it.

Gosh, I guess all of last week's breathless promotional “flashes” and Internet “headlines” about an imminent Presidential campaign decision .... was it to be Friday or Saturday? I can't remember and I didn't tune into Hannity to see ..... was all just more free publicity to jack up Donald Trump's ratings and revenues for his “reality” TV show and other commercial ventures.

This has been nothing but a long and tiresomely obvious striptease about Trump's vain promotion of his “brand”, which is to say, himself.

Yawn. Somehow I feel as though I've seen this movie before. Just another sequel to “Mr. Pompadour Fools the Bankers and Investors Again”. I think I'll pass.

AHA! That's the answer. They are distinguishing between the RINO elites and the unwashed "ultraconservative" Tea Party types. That's the answer, I'll bet.

Thanks for the insight.

I take it as a compliment.

Well, I do too on one level but I don't think that is what is meant in this editorial context. ;0)

This writer is definitely looking down his nose on this whole disgusting mess, isn't he?

I still get the newspaper delivered, so I’m not a good source of info on this.

It's all good. The stuff you said is all true. I was looking for the political angle.

I guess the author would be the one that knows that, anything else is probably conjecture.
