Greatest story untold

Today, Massachusetts celebrates Patriots Day. In towns across the commonwealth, crowds will gather for parades of marching bands, scout troops and public officials. In Lexington and Concord, Redcoats and Minutemen will reenact the events of April 19, 1775, and that legendary march to the North Bridge.

The festivities would make Paul Revere proud. But Revere would roll over in his grave if he knew that the “the shot heard round the world” and the battle that put Concord on the map receive minimal attention in Concord’s elementary schools.

It’s up to the people to change things. If they don’t want to, they’ll live with the results.

We attended one of these reenactments on the green a few years back.

A very impressive thing to see. The most inspiring thing is the devotion to detail that the performers adhere to; regarding uniform and devices they are exceptional people who demonstrate this process with not a cent of public funding.

This happens every year, and should be filmed and broadcast nationally.

I know of another group who does the 1812 war thing. They staff the USS Constitution, and maintain vintage uniform and traditional order. Google the Turning of the Constitution, and go there that day, it is very impressive.

From the Howie Carr show: Between all the Boston Marathon runners, aunt Zituni and the president, are there any Kenyans left in Kenya?

I am in Massachusetts, as are you.

The reality that a few lunatics control the governing structure is not justification to write everyone here off. It is highly possible some push outrageous things in order to foment revolts. We do this here, and we are quite effective at such... Do not let it eat you alive, as it surely shall if you do not understand.

It is no wonder we become so nasty. We do what we have to do. We are clever and vicious in order to survive.

We are behind enemy lines, and from what I have seen over the last decades... The rest of the so called “Patriots” have left us for dead.

It is not a wonder why we give no quarter to others, even our allies.

This is the new nice me. Not a single curse word.

Will the reenactments include the famous ride of Paul Revere?

One of the reasons for The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere was to warn that the British were going to seize the weapons stores in Concord.

British gun control 1770's style.

In modern Massachusetts I am sure a lot of emphasis will be placed on this event. (/s)

Many schools — if they teach history at all — ignore the framework’s emphasis on Massachusetts founders and the political relevance of events and focus instead on social history, such as colonial cooking and Native American crafts.

Next time you hear a teacher whine about standardized testing to measure pupil knowledge, this is precisely why it was introduced to begin with. Many don't teach the curriculum but would rather proceed with their own agenda when teaching your children.

This country needs more men today like Captain John Parker and his Lexington militia.
