I watched that interview when Obama was running in ‘08. When questioned that his intent to raise capital gains tax would have a negative economic effect, Obama agreed with the interviewer then went on to say that not raising the tax wouldn’t be fair. I never needed to listen to a thing that socialist had to say, because he was out to destroy the U.S. economy. I’d say he’s done a fairly decent job of it!

I agree completely. My point is that the majority of so-called progressives are useful idiots who, unbeknownst to themselves, have found their way to Marxism via Rawlsian propaganda dished out in law schools, etc. I maintain the majority would deny they were Marxists in any way, regarding themselves as descendants of a more politically acceptable intellectual pedigree including Rawls, John Stuart Mills, et al. Rawls and his “Theory of Justice” is the equivalent of “Das Kapital” for the majority of contemporary progressives.

Just following up on the previous remarks, I don’t think that core Marxist beliefs such as Hegelian historical inevitability or class polylogism are still in vogue among the majority of progressives. They maintain the same gnostic objectives of Marx, namely establishing heaven on earth by the efforts of an elite class, but have turned to other guiding lights, like Rawls, for their theoretical inspiration.

Here’s a pretty picture to send. Historically, tax revenue has been about 20% of GDP, regardless of the actual tax rate. So, to increase revenue, increase GDP. (Hint: raising taxes won’t do this.)

I remember the interview. Before Hussein was the inevitable candidate, a FEW mainstream media types had the BALLS to question him, and the guy said, “Well, increasing tax rates LOWERS government revenues.”

Hussein looked like he had been hit in the face with a 2x4. He didn’t have an answer....and then, he resorted to the “fairness” crap.
