I don't know how to find the tape but I'm sure it is still out there. THis was the 2008 election not the last one. It may not have been CBS but I think it was.
So, helo is needed so we can locate the tape and post it here and get it to Rush etc.
thx
As I recall, Obama was talking about the deficit, and how we needed to trim that deficit and how tax increases were an important part of making sure the government had the revenue it needed.
The interviewer pointed out that tax increases actually decreased revenue and would therefore work against the goal which Obama had just stated.
Obama pretty much shrugged and said, "Well, it's really all about fairness."
The guy has never been subtle. He wants redistribution of wealth. He wants $5 a gallon for gas. He wants the coal industry to be bankrupted. He says it all, but people just stare at him and say "Isn't he wonderful?"
I thought it was a debate? Maybe I’m wrong. But I think someone from CBS (we were surprised) asked if, being that capital tax increases? have been proven to decrease income rather than increase it, why would Obama raise taxes.
Obama basically answered that the purpose of taxes were income redistribution, even if they ended up raising less money and damaging the economy.
Thinking on it more, I think what Obama said was it wasn’t moral for some people to have so much more than other people.
Maybe I’m thinking of a separate incident, as the poster above me seems to think it was Fox and he remembers it well.
Fairness is a euphemism for Marxist Redistribution.
Obama's answer (paraphrased): "The deficit is too large. We do need to cut spending. I will cut spending. Here is exactly what I would do to cut spending: I would invest in roads and bridges. I would invest in education and in health care. Most importantly, I would invest in green technology."
Since then, Obama has said this about a hundred times: "I will cut spending by spending a whole lot more in many areas." And no one seems to call him on it. He said the same thing a week or two ago.
McCain's answer was shorter: "I would cut defense."
Charles Gibson
There was also his interview with Bill O’Reilly, where BoR confronted PresBO with that, and he answered as you recall.
Mark
When 45+% pay no federal income tax how can raising the tax on those that do be fair?
That’s right it was Charles Gibson!!!!!
Now we need the tape!!!
That’s the one.
thx for stating what EVERY one here already understands.
I have seen that before. Democrats dont raise taxes on the rich to solve budget problems, they do it to soften up the middle class for their tax increases. That is what they mean by ‘fairness’. “Look, I know raising your taxes by 3% is tough on you but we need the money to save the country and the rich guy you envy now has to pay 15% more and look at all the great public services you will still get for it. Don't you feel better now that it is fair?”
What he told Joe the Plumber about spreading the wealth around was all anyone needed to know about this Marxist.
Regardless whether or not they identify themselves as Marxists, the overwhelming majority of so-called progressives operate under the spell of the political philosopher John Rawls (St. John of Harvard Yard). Rawls based his political philosophy on the notion of 'Fairness'. His influence is everywhere among the academic faculties of the leading law schools.

Or it may be only a euphuism.
Quote: I thought it was a debate? Maybe Im wrong.
No, you’re not wrong; you are BOTH right.
I first heard it (the second time zer0bama said it on record) in the last demoRAT primary debate. Then this past weekend I heard the interview the O/P wrote about in a clip played on the Fox Talk John Gibson show on my XM radio.
I remember in the debate zer0 was reminded twice that cuts in the capital gains RATE increased capital gains REVENUES. He sounded exasperated and snapped at the moderator (very close to) “It’s not about revenue, it’s about fairness.”
Right then I decided the man was outright dangerous.
Won’t do much good. Americans knew he was a tax and spend Marxist and voted for him anyway.

Each individual or some elitist, collectivist, statist ?
The key question is: who gets to decide what is "fair"?
Each member of society has an equal claim on their societys goods.
That is classical Marxism.
