Every small town in America, regardless of demographic, has a Crystal Mangum. What happens is that at some time or another, the agendized ani of the Left, like Nifong, Epstein, et al, decide to try and use the Crystal Mangums of this and other towns for political advantage.

Thank God the intended victims in that intended frame-up were not helpless people, but instead were the sons of well-connected, intelligent, and obviously well-educated families, who were able ... at great personal cost, nonetheless ... to take Nifong and his cheap race-baiting cronies down.

BTW, the Duke men involved are not excused. They had been quite rowdy in the past and did not endear themselves to their neighbors. In a racially charged Left-wing town like Chapel Hill, THEY MADE THEMSELVES EASY MARKS FOR NIFONG AND EPSTEIN. BTW, Epstein had been "gunning" for these fellows for quite a while. I frankly suspect him of "a set-up," and I hope he's no longer on the CHPD.

My town didn’t have prostitution, drugs, crime or corruption on the scale that Durham seems to have. The police chief didn’t disappear for a year while still on the payroll. Our DA did play handball every day with the local Mafia boss but he was no Nifong.
