..... “The plan was to eat there, but unfortunately they had one of their chefs off sick so they weren’t able to cope with the number that we had brought, “ the operational commander of William’s unit, Squadron Leader Iain “Spike” Wright, said Thursday. “And so we found another location and we moved on.”

A local businessman, Jonathan Campbell, 39, said the restaurant phoned the nearby Treaddur Bay hotel to see if they could take the party.

“They thought it was a joke that it was Prince William and his buddies and they had to ring three or four times and say ‘no, this is real,’” he said.

But Campbell said he was not surprised the party was turned away from the Seacroft.

“We’ve got to pre-book, he’s got to pre-book,” he said. “So it’s only fair.”

Although residents weren’t surprised, Marianne Swanner, an engineer visiting from Orlando, Florida, was shocked.

“In the States, if (President Barack) Obama wants to go there, they’d have let him,” she said. “They would have cleared it out and let him in.”

The restaurants are near the Royal Air Force base where William serves as a helicopter search and rescue pilot.

The very idea of a more than "royal" Obama!

The Executive (elective office) is but one of 3 branches of our government and we better start making that clear.

Just depends on the restaurant. A local restaurant (the Pine Club) has a strict "no reservations" rule. If you want to eat you wait your turn. That even applied to President George H. W. Bush who sat in his limo as a Secret Service agent held his place in line.

People like this are why the royal incumbents in this country get away with so much. I believe people that think this way actually want to live under a totalitarian regime, or at least in a country where "royalty" rules over the people.

People want to believe that those who govern are special - that they are more intelligent than everyone else, more moral and even have divine favor. That way they can safely let those people rule without having to expend any effort in understanding the issues themselves or trying to do something on their own about them. What they don’t realize is that what they’re doing is surrendering their citizenship and volunteering to become subjects. Understanding that those who govern are people just like themselves and that they therefore must be watched, evaluated and informed by the citizens is a concept they wish to avoid.
