I think your premise is incorrect.

This is not a conspiracy in the sense that people are trying to hide or cover up the matter. Rather, I think the reluctance to conduct a credible investigation -- or the lack of just plain old curiosity -- is that no one with any political or judicial standing or who wants to remain in the good graces of the Washington elite wants to go down in history as the one who called into question the Constitutional qualifications of the first "negro", "black", "mulatto" -- you pick -- president.
