Nearly half of usual Republican primary voters in Iowa think President Obama was not born in the United States, while barely one-quarter believe he was, according to a PPP poll released on Tuesday.
In the poll, 48% of registered Republican voters said Obama was not born in the U.S., while 26% said he was. Additionally, 26% said they were unsure.

Perhaps the focus should be more general? Let's get Obama's past on record. How did he do in college? Release the high school and college transcripts.
I'd like to see Sarah Palin's transcripts (and I know they won't be perfect since she was paying her own way), and DeMint's if he runs, and Bachmann's, and those of any RINO (yeah, even Romney and the Huckster). Make a production of the fact that releasing records on their past is an important part of disclosure and understanding the whole person. Release a full, long-form birth certificate and a full college transcript on every candidate except Obama, and there sill be more pressure to comply with the legitimate request to release the transcripts. That leaves an obvious hole if Obama refuses to release his transcripts, and even if he releases them but doesn't release the long-form bc.

Obama will not be defeated on this issue. Period. So why do you want to keep it going? This is equivalent to the “Bush-arranged-911-to-get-the-oil” theory floated by the left and some tinfoil-hat libertarians like Jesse Ventura. Did that get Kerry elected?

Defeating Obama on the issues will do more to defend the Constitution than harping on birth certificates.

Would good is an oath of office if Zero is re-elected, and he doubles down on government takeovers of businesses, government regulations, TSA gropefests and peepshows, slushfunds for ACORN, & more Commie and Sharia-compliant judges, etc.
Whatever the strategy, this is just another arrow in our quiver to go after Obama. I see no real down side. We need to attack Obama's personal narrative, whether it is associations with racists, terrorists, and crooks, or his BC, or his failure to disclose his school transcripts, medical records, etc. The GOP made this off-limits in 2008. It is not a distraction, but a necessity that we go after him personally. The emperor has no clothes.

Kerry, with all of his faults as a lousy candidate, almost won despite going up an incumbent war time President. The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth saved the Gop's sorry ass by torpedoing Kerry's phony Vietnam hero narrative. It froze him like a deer in the headlights for almost a month. Rove, a legned in his own mind, criticized the SBVFT as did McCain.
You can do both, just like the Democrats do.

I worry that the entire detailed understanding of “Natural Born Citizen” as understood by the founder’s era citizenry that ratified the Constitution is lost in the weeds of the more yes-or-no issue of a formal Birth Certificate.
If a Long Form is produced, the vast bulk of the electorate will consider the issue closed since this has been reduced to a “birth certicate” issue by the “birthers” as far as all media reports reference it.
If Barack Sr. is shown to be his father, he was never a citizen and the whole BC issue doesn’t resolve a single thing. But when one is produced in October, the issue will look like an Obama WIN. Furthermore, if the marriage was invalid at the time of his birth and no father is declared on the BC proving HI birth, it will be harder to say he is not Natural Born.
Once the Democrats and Republicans ignored it and elected and inaugarated him, the issue was lost as it was never addressed by an honest media in time for an understanding to develop.
