In Indonesia social welfare is administered through a network of government approved Islamic Mullahs.
They come around to visit you ~ check your income and apparant wealth (look at your clothes, belongings, does he own a cow perhaps, or an oxen), and lord forbid you have a 20 room house!
They'll assess the visible assets, what they know of your outside income and tell you how many servants you must have ~ and pay.
Servants are cheap in Indonesia.
So, Obama had a baby sitter and a cook ~ or rather, his mother and father had only 2 servants.
They were NOT wealthy people by Indonesia standards.
I'd bet that when they transferred from the public schools to the private school for foreigners they got some more servants assessed against them.
