As Weasel Zippers pointed out, these are doubtless the same people who were demanding "democracy" a few weeks ago. This it he Muslim Brotherhood up to its usual BS. Should be invited to pound sand. Gee, wouldn't it be tragic if something bad happened to el-Zomor?

As our “O” leader has proclaimed, “it is the young people” who will bring democracy. Isn’t that democracy great? We’re watching that democracy grow every day in Egypt.....and more anti-American. Are we still sending the Egyptian military billion$ every month? I guess so since we sent Lybia $20 million we don’t have.

Omar Abdel Rahman, also known as the blind sheik, is serving life in prison
He is serving a life sentence because the jury that convicted him didn't want to upset the Muslims, so they didn't sentence him to death. Osama bin Laden was watching, and concluded he could get away with anything in this country.

"As a freshman college student, [Dr. Mark]Gabriel says one of the most popular lecturers was a blind Sheik. Gabriel asked why he never talked about the love, peace and forgiveness in Islam. Angered, the sheik said, "Jihad and killing are the head of Islam. If you take them out, you cut off the head of Islam." That blind man was Omar Abdel Rahman who was convicted of masterminding the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Before he came to America, he was the spiritual leader of the radical Egyptian group al-Jihad, which killed President Anwar Sadat."

This isn’t MB, but a different group entirely, called al-Gama’a al-Islamiyya. They have been conducting a “hot war” against the Egyptian government, and from ‘92-’97 killed more than 1,200 Egyptians, including the head of the counter-terrorism police, a speaker of parliament, dozens of European tourists and Egyptian bystanders, and over 100 Egyptian police. They have also tried to assassinate Mubarak.

The Egyptian government has arrested at least 20,000 of its members and killed thousands more. The Egyptian public turned against them in a big way after they carried out the Luxor massacre, slaughtering a whole bunch of innocent people.

Sheikh Omar Abdul Rahman actually had the chutzpah to blame it on the Israelis, whereas al-Qaeda’s Zawahiri (#2), blamed it on the Egyptian police.

This about broke the group until finally it reached a “non-violence” accord with the Egyptian government, which caused a schism among its followers.

As far as Omar Abdul Rahman himself:

After the first World Trade Center bombing in February 1993, the FBI began to investigate Rahman and his followers more closely. With the assistance of an Egyptian informant wearing a listening device, the FBI managed to record Rahman issuing a fatwa encouraging acts of violence against US civilian targets, particularly in the New York and New Jersey metropolitan area.

The most startling plan, the government charged, was to set off five bombs in 10 minutes, blowing up the United Nations, the Lincoln and Holland tunnels, the George Washington Bridge and a federal building housing the FBI.

Government prosecutors showed videotapes of defendants mixing bomb ingredients in a garage before their arrest in 1993. Rahman was arrested on 24 June 1993, along with nine of his followers. On 1 October 1995, he was convicted of seditious conspiracy, and in 1996 was sentenced to life in prison.

Rahman in imprisoned in the Butner Federal Medical Center in North Carolina. Where he will stay until he dies.

Those friendly, democracy loving Islamist....who also admire those who attacked the WTC...makes one wonder who they are friendly toward and if they have the same concept of democracy as the U.S.

Then again Bill Ayers and Code Pink have been working with these Egyptian Islamists for years....community building and organizing...makes one wonder about such a community...and whether it would have the same concept of democracy as is generally understood in the U.S....or if its view is changed...fundamentally.
