Is it just me or is this "voice problem" only during rallies and such, she seems to come off better in debates and the VP acceptance speech was excellent.

Maybe, when she tries to project her voice it may loose it's quality, I get that feedback as well. these outdoor arena's in the wind maybe having her want to shout when in fact the mic might do the job just as well.

It's not just you. You're exactly right. When people try to force their voice, as is almost always the case when one speaks at a rally, you can get into trouble.

Palin was trying to speak over a crowd where there were people booing and jeering her. Her voice is thin: I say this as one who has used my voice professionally for my entire adult life.

By contrast, the VP acceptance speech was before a friendly audience under conditions as close to controlled as a speaker ever gets. She was magnificent. Her message was impeccable in Madison too but the setting made her force her delivery.

It's not a knock on Palin or, as some have posted here, a way to 'try to get her'. She's my undisputed first choice for President if she decides to run. I also see posters talking about how someone who would be dissuaded by voice as being not serious voters.

We are running a candidate against the most unprincipled, most corrupt, most self-serving liar ever to live in the People's House. We need every vote we can get from the candidate with the best message. For me, that candidate is Palin, but she needs to appeal to everyone to have a chance to win. As little as possible should be left to chance.

Voice may seem like a small thing, but it's not. Listen to a screechy mother-in-law sometime and you'll see what I mean.

That’s the rub: A superficial, un-serious voter equals one vote, which is exactly the same number of votes non-superficial, serious voter Bigtigermike gets to make. It’s not a waste of time to reason with them...they are the idiots swaying these elections and if it takes some voice-training or whatever it’s worth it...magritte

You are correct. During bigger events, I think she gets excited and tries to project more and it’s just out of her range...as long as she avoids the Dean Scream, she’ll be okay...just needs a little work...magritte

The reality is that Obama’s voice and speaking style got him into the WH - despite all the red flags that were everywhere.

Not necessarily. What got him in was the votes of the duped who tuned into the MSM for their "news, and nothing but the news", who relentlessly bashed Bush at every single opportunity, real or imagined, or wished, while Zero not only got a pass on everything, but a boost every time a situation or opportunity presented itself.

The media since kennedy's time has but one goal, to elect a democrat for president (and on down the line, to dog catcher.). They have, over the years, tuned the machine well, getting rid of most of the rough idle.

Post of the day, saying eliquently what I could not. Your point can be underscored by 2 words "Florida 2000"

Imagine Sarah loosing FLA by 660 votes and looses the General because the voters were too shallow and didn't like her voice, let's not take that chance. That would suck pond water...

I”ve never seen a better speech from anyone than her VP acceptance speech.

I wish her voice weren’t an issue - if I can I will vote for her - I care about the content.

Unfortunately this matters to many people and I wish it weren’t an issue for Sarah and that she’d fix it.

I think we all have a certain “image” of “presidential”. They must speak in a particular style, act a certain way. While people were told and believed 0bama was “different” the way he presented himself, he seemed an absolutely perfect version of every stereotype we’ve come to expect from a candidate, right down to pretty words and perfect delivery...a Stepford candidate. This was very easy to do with 0bama because he was an empty slate. He’s not anymore.

Change is exactly what we were looking for, a rebel who would turn things around and not be afraid to step out of the “perfect presidential caricature” (0bama was actually an uber version of the usual). The country was looking for a Reagan, someone who truly had a unique approach to life, with an unconventional but upbeat outlook. I guarantee this time we’d rather have someone whose warts are pretty much out there for all the world to see so there are no more surprises. How could we not be surprised by 0bama? We knew nothing about him.

And here comes Palin. She’s fresh, she says what’s on her mind. She’s fearless, energetic, and upbeat. The LSM has created a caricature of her just as they have of 0bama but when she’s out there that caricature will fall away as people get to know her without the filter. It’s SO obviousl the left is afraid of her. Like Rush says, “the left will always tell us who our candidate should be”.

Her love of country shines through her positive outlook is refreshing (and something we’re craving right now), she comes out and proudly declares our best days are ahead of us. And she believes it! That force of personality (what everyone who voted for 0bama thought they were getting because he “played one on TV”) CAN turn the country around because that positive outlook on life is infectious.

0bama’s entire presidency has been about making us feel bad about ourselves and the country is sick of it. We know we aren’t the evil, selfish people he (and the left in general) are trying to make us believe we are. It’s the same mood we had with Jimmy Carter. It won’t stand. One of the best things about Palin(that people who think conventionally see as a negative)is she’s a known quantity. She has no dirty laundry left. The thing is, her dirty laundry isn’t any different than what the rest of us have in our laundry basket.

We aren’t a conventional people regardless of what both sides say about the “sheeple”. Conventional got us where we are and we’re hungry for someone different, someone like us who knows what the solution is because it’s the same kinds of things we all talk about with each other. You can tell by the mood of the country that common sense is kicking in. Just because the majority of people don’t pay attention to politics doesn’t mean they don’t care about where their country is going.

Are you kidding? Every time he says a word that has an “s” in it it’s like fingers on a blackboard. Cringe-worthy.

That is not what I'm saying. the “voice” issue was an attack line started and pushed by the left. Many on the right think it is a good issue to knock Palin on. thus they push it too.

I'm simply explaining where the attack started, who started and why it is being pushed. I refuse to make common cause with the left by adopting their tactics or talking points. If the left things it is a good talking point to stop a conservative I oppose it. The left is 180 degrees from me.

just one more point to think about. Has any other candidates voice ever been and issue.

Clinton's southern accent, Obama’s cadence, Bush's twang, Bush the first NE nasal voice, or Regan's scratchy voice. Nope and that is because the left never made it an issue before. This is what the left does, it is how that shape the narrative and push a narrative. I refuse to be a part of the left’s narrative.

No not crapola, we have had over the last 2 years many Freepers that claim to be in the voice training arena noting she needs it and it would take 2 or 3 years to coach her.

Mff. You mean, there are freepers who feel they should be needed to coach the next president?
